An image processing apparatus comprising a scanner. When the apparatus starts execution of a file output job, the apparatus confirms whether or not to be able to access a server. In a case where the apparatus could not access the server, the apparatus stops the execution of the file output job without outputting a file including image data to a designated output destination. In a case where the apparatus could access the server, the apparatus transmits a log relating to the file output job to the server before outputting the file to the designated output destination. When the transmitted log could be saved in the server, the apparatus outputs the file to the designated output destination. When the transmitted log could not be saved in the server, the apparatus stops the execution of the file output job without outputting the file to the designated output destination.

Upon detecting the trigger event, the scanning device may retrieve the workflow and associated instructions from one or more designated folders on the portable memory device, automatically scan the document on the document handler to a digital document file, and perform various processing actions on the digital document file according to the workflow, with little or no user interaction. The processing actions may include storing, faxing, and emailing the scanned document, and/or performing certain document conversion functions on the digital document file.

An image processing apparatus, including a display, a memory, and a controller, to provide a plurality of functions is provided. The controller controls the display to display one of a first screen, through which one of the plurality of functions is selectable; a second screen, through which one of a plurality of options for the selected function is selectable; and a third screen, through which selection of the one of the plurality of options is indicated. An image forming apparatus includes: a storage that stores a plurality of control programs of the image forming apparatus; a cache memory; and a hardware processor that controls the image forming apparatus, wherein the hardware processor: writes, to the cache memory, a control program that is an execution candidate selected from among the plurality of control programs; determines execution priorities of the respective control programs that are the execution candidates; and locks down, as an object to be locked down, a control program, the priority of which is relatively high among the control programs that are the execution candidates, in the cache memory.
