An image scanning device according to aspects of the present disclosures includes a transparent plate member on which an original document can be placed, a line sensor configured to receive a light emitted from a light source and reflected by the original document, and output an electrical signal according to the reflected light, a holding member configured to cover an upper surface of the plate member, and a controller. The controller is configured to obtain a first electrical signal corresponding to a first reflected light when the light source emits light having a first light amount, obtain a second electrical signal corresponding to a second reflected light when the light source emits light having a second light amount, and determine a particular scanning mode for scanning the original document placed on the plate member based on an image difference value calculated from the first and second electrical signals.

An image forming apparatus includes processing circuitry and an image forming device. The processing circuitry is configured to acquire characteristic information of a recording medium measured, and apply a preset calculation criterion to the characteristic information to calculate an image forming condition. The image forming device is configured to form an image on the recording medium based on the image forming condition calculated by the processing circuitry.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTERFACING WITH A DISPLAY DEVICE
The present method and system provides for interacting with a display device including accessing an external content database having images stored therein, and storing a plurality of the images to a local memory device associated with the display device. The method and system includes displaying a user interface screen on the output display of the display device and detecting, via at least one of a plurality environmental sensors, a user gesture external to the display device, the user gesture engaging in a commercial transaction relating to the display of at least one of the plurality of images on the output display. The method and system includes accessing a financial services processing system, verifying user acknowledgement of the commercial transaction, and updating the output display based on the interface command.

After a fixed period of time has passed with no operation received by an operating unit, a control unit switches the operation mode to a first power saving mode when the brightness detected by a brightness detection unit is greater than or equal to a given brightness, and switches the operation mode to a second power saving mode when the brightness detected is less than the given brightness. The control unit extends the detection range of a human detection unit in the second power saving mode to a range broader than the range used in the first power saving mode.

In a stationary picture frame, the method and system includes detecting at least one ambient condition using an environmental sensor affixed to the stationary picture frame and analyzing the ambient condition to determine ambient condition factors. The method and system includes selecting one of the plurality of images from the local memory device, the selected image having content data and characteristic data and analyzing the characteristic data of the selected image. Thereby, the method and system provides for adjusting display settings on an output display of the stationary picture frame displaying the content data of the selected image on the output display.

An image forming apparatus includes an operating key, an illuminance sensor, and a controller. The operating key contains a lamp. The illuminance sensor detects an ambient illuminance. The controller controls turning on and off of the lamp. The operating key functions as a first trigger for return from a power-saving mode to a normal mode. The controller turns the lamp off when the ambient illuminance detected by the illuminance sensor in the power-saving mode is equal to or more than a first threshold value, and the controller turns the lamp on when the ambient illuminance detected by the illuminance sensor in the power-saving mode is less than the first threshold value.
System and method for interfacing with a display device
The present method and system provides for interacting with a display device including accessing an external content database having images stored therein, and storing a plurality of the images to a local memory device associated with the display device and therein displaying one or more of the images on an output display. The method and system includes displaying a user interface screen on the output display of the display device and detecting, via at least one of a plurality environmental sensors, a user gesture external to the display device, the user gesture relating to gesture-based control of the display device. The method and system determines a gesture context value relating to the detected gesture and accesses a gesture library to retrieve an interface command. The method and system thus updates the output display of the at least one of the plurality of images based on the interface command.

The image processing device includes a generation unit configured to, based on input image data, generate first image data for the image forming device and second image data for the image projection device, a first acquisition unit configured to acquire environment illumination information relating to environment illumination in generating the overlap image, and a correction unit configured to correct the second image data based on the environment illumination information.
