Systems, methods, and devices are configured to reduce energy use in a printing or multi-function device. They include monitoring at least one characteristic associated with operation of a multi-function device in a first mode of operation. They further include determining when a value of the at least one characteristic exceeds a threshold value and communicating programming information associated with operation of the multi-function device in a second mode of operation to a programmable network interface device when it is determined that the value of the at least one characteristic exceeds the threshold. The programming information changing the operating conditions associated with network communication by the programmable network interface device. The printing or multi-function device then operates in the second mode of operation based on the conditions associated with the network communication by the reconfigurable network interface device.

A method for an information processing apparatus, comprising: acquiring first information to be used to establish connection to a connection target access point and second information concerning a communication apparatus to be connected to the access point by imaging a first image displayed on a display unit of another information processing apparatus connected to the access point; establishing wireless connection to the communication apparatus based on the second information acquired in the acquiring the first information; and transmitting the first information to the communication apparatus to cause the communication apparatus to try connection to the access point.

An electronic device, including a power source, power-consuming devices, a USB interface, a command receiver, a memory, and a controller, is provided. The controller forecasts at least one of the power-consuming devices to be used in one of a plurality of time segments, calculates a level of total operation power being sum of power required by the forecasted at least one of the power-consuming devices for the time segment with reference to values of power stored in the memory, and determine a level of the power to be delivered to an external device connected to the USB interface in the time segment based on the level of the total operation power and the level of the power capacity in the power source. The controller controls the power source to deliver the determined level of the power to the external device through the USB interface during the time segment.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REDUCING ENERGY USE IN A MULTI-FUNCTION DEVICE
Systems, methods, and devices are configured to reduce energy use in a printing or multi-function device. They include monitoring at least one characteristic associated with operation of a multi-function device in a first mode of operation. They further include determining when a value of the at least one characteristic exceeds a threshold value and communicating programming information associated with operation of the multi-function device in a second mode of operation to a programmable network interface device when it is determined that the value of the at least one characteristic exceeds the threshold. The programming information changing the operating conditions associated with network communication by the programmable network interface device. The printing or multi-function device then operates in the second mode of operation based on the conditions associated with the network communication by the reconfigurable network interface device.
VOLTAGE CONVERSION CIRCUIT AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
In order to eliminate inconvenience that the voltage accuracy requirement for a power supply voltage of an ASIC cannot be satisfied because noise generated inside a substrate is superimposed on the power supply voltage, an LDO and an LC filter are added between a DC-DC converter and a power supply terminal of the ASIC to reduce the noise superimposed on the power supply voltage, the LDO is added to the subsequent stage of the DC-DC converter to reduce noise generated from the DC-DC converter, and further the LC filter is added to the subsequent stage of the LDO to reduce noise generated due to crosstalk or the like.
Immediate-mode camera for portable personal electronic devices
Techniques are described for implementing an immediate-mode camera for integration into portable personal electronic device (PPED) environments. Embodiments of the IMC can include an integrated digital camera that can be triggered directly by one or more user interface components, without involving waking up the application processor, waking up display components, waking up digital camera components, and/or starting up camera-related applications. For example, if a user's smart phone is locked, and the user desired to capture a photo, the user can interact with particular UI components in a particular manner, thereby directly triggering capture of image data by the IMC substantially without delay. Implementations of the IMC can involve a low-power, always-on digital camera that is directly controllable by one or more always-on user interface components. The IMC components can be in communication with an always-on region of the application processor via a fast hardware interface.

There is provided a control apparatus for controlling a static random access memory (SRAM) capable of shifting from a first power mode to a second power mode that is capable of holding data and saving more power than the first power mode or a third power mode that is not capable of holding data but is capable of saving more power than the second power mode. The control apparatus includes a first instruction unit configured to output an instruction for shifting the SRAM to the second power mode based on a state of the control apparatus and a second instruction unit configured to output an instruction for shifting the SRAM to the third power mode based on a state of the control apparatus.
