Methods and apparatus for automatic TV on/off detection

Methods and apparatus are disclosed to determine a power state of a device. An example method includes determining respective counts for a plurality of measurements during a calibration period, the measurements indicative of an amount of power drawn by the device, determining a first threshold and a second threshold based on at least one of the counts, the first threshold determined using most frequently logged measurement values, the most frequently logged measurement values based on counts performed after expiration of the calibration period, comparing a measurement to the first threshold and to the second threshold, and outputting a positive indication when the measurement is within an acceptable difference range, the acceptable difference range based on the amount of power drawn by the device.

Modular system for controlling a liquid crystal display

A removable video module for a backlit liquid crystal display (LCD) contained within a chassis and having a timing and control board (TCON) with a board edge connector and an access opening in the chassis. The module preferably having a video input connection and means for generating a Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS) video. The video module also preferably has a board edge connector adapted to connect with the board edge connector on the TCON, where the video module is adapted to fit through the access opening to connect with the TCON. Other embodiments may utilize a backplane where the video module and a power module are adapted to connect with the backplane and electrically communicate with the rest of the display. Outputs for either the video signal, power supply, or both may be provided so that a plurality of displays may be daisy-chained together.

Slits are formed at two sides of the bank by down-cutting, and a hole is formed on the sidewall below the bank. The display panel is disposed on the supporting frame; a bottom surface of the display panel is supported by the supporting surface, and the bank faces an end surface of the display panel.

The display and enclosure apparatus includes a cabinet that has a back face and at least one flange extending from the back face for holding the television. A decorative member is connected to the flange of the cabinet. The decorative member defines a hollow that extends in a non-linear shape and terminates at a mouth. A bracket interconnects the cabinet and decorative member. The bracket includes a plate that overlies and is connected to the flange of the cabinet, and at least one wing that extends from the plate. The wing has a shape that substantially matches the non-linear shape of the hollow of the decorative member and nests in the hollow for interconnecting the flange of the cabinet and the decorative member.
