Media substitution task based on broadcast watermark
A radio receiver includes a tuner and processing circuitry, which in turn includes watermark detection circuitry and local playout control circuitry. The tuner receives an over-the-air radio broadcast on a tuned frequency. The over-the-air radio broadcast includes broadcast content. The processing circuitry, which is coupled to the tuner, is used to implement the watermark detection circuitry and local playout control circuitry. The watermark detection circuitry detects an actionable watermark included in the broadcast content, and transmits a watermark-detected signal to the local playout control circuitry in response to detecting the actionable watermark. In response to receiving the watermark-detected signal, the local playout control circuitry initiates retrieval of replacement content.
Location based targeted advertising
Systems and methods for providing targeted advertising to media display devices that may be located away from a user premises based on user preferences. A computing system may detect presence of multiple user devices within a proximity of the computing system, and a user profile associated with each particular user device may then be accessed. A net demographic profile associated with the multiple user devices may be determined, and then advertising content may be selected for presentation by a display device based upon the net demographic profile.
Terrestrial broadcast market exchange network platform and broadcast augmentation channels for hybrid broadcasting in the internet age
A new television broadcast model called a Broadcast Market Exchange (BMX) eliminates the inefficiency in spectrum usage, providing maximum flexibility in delivering content through either VHF (for fixed location receiving devices) or UHF (optimized for mobile receiving devices) transmission/propagation. In conjunction with the BMX, a wireless communications system architecture is provided to enable a broadcast augmentation channel. The augmentation channel provides supplementation of the Quality of Service (QoS) of a one way User Datagram Protocol (UDP) delivery environment. The augmentation channel may be comprised of one or more physical delivery mechanisms (wired or wireless), but can be effectively unified for increasing QoS and or scalable levels of service (additional essence) to improve the user experience.
Tying audio and video watermarks of live and recorded events for simulcasting alternative content to an audio channel or second screen
An alternative content system receives a primary content data stream and a secondary content data stream associated with an event. The alternative content system provides an alternative content data stream associated with the event. The alternative content system extracts a primary content identifier from the primary content data stream. The alternative content system identifies an alternative content identifier based on the alternative content data stream. The alternative content system synchronizes the alternative content data stream to the primary content data stream based on the alternative content identifier and the primary content identifier. The alternative content system transmits the synchronized alternative content data stream based on the primary content identifier.
System and method for determining TV tune-in attribution
Methods and apparatus are provided for determining a lift metric regarding effectiveness of a digital ad campaign for an audio-visual work on subsequent viewership of the audio-visual work. Viewed content from a universe of monitored AV audio-visual devices is collected. Identifiers of audio-visual devices that received an ad impression for the audio-visual work are also collected. The lift metric may be determined from statistical analysis of this data.
Advertisement insertion
Insertion of an advertisement within a television program or other media/content is contemplated. The advertisement insertion may be achieved when the media/content is originally transported with advertisement avails or other portions designated for advertisement insertion and those portions are difficult to discover, unknown, removed, obfuscated and/or generally inaccessible to a client facilitating play of the media/content.
Time shifting content for network DVR and trick play keys
Decoupling a time shift buffer from content streams to allow faster trick mode response is provided. A TSB/DVR manager may be provided to manage user selection of trick play options while viewing linear or non-linear content streams from a network source. Indication of selection of a trick play option may be received and analyzed by the TSB/DVR manager. The content stream may be managed, such that one or more trick play content streams may be sent to an endpoint device. This provides a network trick play experience similar to the trick play experience when content resides locally. Further, the user's behavior and viewing patterns may be continually monitored and recorded to allow the system to send one or more trick play content streams prior to the user selecting the trick play option. An option to acquire and record missed portions of the content stream may also be provided.
Content processing apparatus and method for providing an event
A method and apparatus for providing an object corresponding to output content are provided. The method includes outputting content on a screen, extracting a fingerprint of the content at predetermined time intervals, transmitting the extracted fingerprint to a server, receiving event information related to the content, and in response to an output mode being set as a first mode, displaying an object corresponding to the content on the screen, and in response to the output mode being set as a second mode, displaying additional information of the object corresponding to the content on the screen.
Managing interactive subtitle data
Embodiments of the present application relate to a method, apparatus, and system for processing subtitle data. The method includes dividing subtitle data into multiple subtitle groups according to subtitle data display time information related to a played object, wherein a subtitle group comprises at least one subtitle data entry, and wherein a subtitle data entry comprises subtitle content, a subtitle display time in relation to the played object, and a speed of subtitle motion, selecting a piece of subtitle data from a subtitle group according to the display time information of the played object, and causing the selected piece of subtitle data to be displayed on a track such that the selected piece of subtitle data does not overlap with or pass another piece of subtitle data displayed on the track.
Apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals, apparatus for receiving broadcast signals, method for transmitting broadcast signals and method for receiving broadcast signals
The present invention provides a method of transmitting broadcast signals. The method includes, formatting input streams into Data Pipe (DP) data, Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) encoding the DP data according to a code rate, bit interleaving the LDPC encoded DP data, mapping the bit interleaved DP data onto constellations, building at least one signal frame including the mapped DP data, and modulating data in the built signal frame by an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) method and transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data, wherein the input streams include Audio/Video (A/V) data and service guide data, and wherein the Audio/Video (A/V) data and service guide data are included in first ISO base media file format (ISOBMFF) files.
