Provided is an image decoding method including: generating an intra prediction value of a current sample based on a position of the current sample in a current block and an intra prediction mode of the current block; determining, based on the position of the current sample in the current block, a sample value of at least one filtering reference sample to be filtered and a first weight with respect to the filtering reference sample and a second weight with respect to the intra prediction value of the current sample; generating a filtered prediction sample value of the current sample based on the determined sample value of the filtering reference sample to be filtered, the intra prediction value of the current sample, the first weight with respect to the filtering reference sample, and the second weight with respect to the intra prediction value of the current sample; and generating a prediction block of the current block, the prediction block including the filtered prediction sample value of the current sample.

A method comprising: receiving a plurality of duplicates of a serial bit stream, wherein said serial bit stream comprises a sequence of data packets; continuously dividing each of said duplicates of said serial bit stream based on sequential time windows; with respect to each of said time windows, aligning said data packets associated with each of said duplicates of said serial bit stream, received within said time window, based, at least in part, on data packet similarity; and recreating in real time said serial bit stream by selecting at least one of said aligned data packets as representing a next data packet in said sequence of data packets.
Triangle prediction with applied-block settings and motion storage settings
A video coder receives data from a bitstream for a block of pixels to be encoded or decoded as a current block of a current picture of a video. Upon determining that an applied block setting of the current block satisfies a threshold condition, the video coder generates a first prediction based on a first motion information for a first prediction unit of the current block. The video coder generates a second prediction based on a second motion information for a second prediction unit of the current block. The video coder generates a third prediction based on the first and second motion information for an overlap prediction region that is defined based on a partitioning between the first prediction unit and the second prediction unit. The video coder encodes or decodes the current block by using the first, second, and third predictions.
Intrasegment Adjustment of Video Transmission Rate
A method includes determining a first transmission rate for transmitting an entirety of a segment of a video stream to a client device. The segment includes a set of frames. In some implementations, the method includes, after transmitting a first subset of the set of frames at the first transmission rate, detecting that a network connectivity of the client device has reduced below a connectivity threshold associated with the first transmission rate. In some implementations, the method includes transmitting an entirety of the segment at a second transmission rate that is less than the first transmission rate. In some implementations, the method includes triggering the client device to present a second subset of the set of frames that corresponds to a temporal position in the video stream after the first subset of the set of frames while foregoing re-presentation of the first subset of the set of frames.
Intrasegment Adjustment of Video Transmission Rate
A method includes determining a first transmission rate for transmitting an entirety of a segment of a video stream to a client device. The segment includes a set of frames. In some implementations, the method includes, after transmitting a first subset of the set of frames at the first transmission rate, detecting that a network connectivity of the client device has reduced below a connectivity threshold associated with the first transmission rate. In some implementations, the method includes transmitting an entirety of the segment at a second transmission rate that is less than the first transmission rate. In some implementations, the method includes triggering the client device to present a second subset of the set of frames that corresponds to a temporal position in the video stream after the first subset of the set of frames while foregoing re-presentation of the first subset of the set of frames.

Priority for at least one of the one or more patches is determined and the one or more patches are projected to a projection plane. Indication of the priority is encoded into or along a bitstream. In some embodiments of a method for decoding, one or more encoded patches formed from a three-dimensional image information are received. Also at least one indication of priority determined for at least one of the one or more patches is received and the patches are reconstructed in the order defined by the at least one indication of priority.

A picture coding method of the present invention codes a picture signal and a ratio of a number of luminance pixels and a number of chrominance pixels for the picture signal, and then one coding method out of at least two coding methods is selected depending on the ratio. Next, data related to a picture size is coded in accordance with the selected coding method. The data related to the picture size indicates a size of the picture corresponding to the picture signal or an output area, which is a pixel area to be outputted in decoding in a whole pixel area coded in the picture signal coding.
Power aware video decoding and streaming
Methods and systems are disclosed for a mobile device to decode video based on available power and/or energy. For example, the mobile device may receive a media description file (MDF) from for a video stream from a video server. The MDF may include complexity information associated with a plurality of video segments. The complexity information may be related to the amount of processing power to be utilized for decoding the segment at the mobile device. The mobile device may determine at least one power metric for the mobile device. The mobile device may determine a first complexity level to be requested for a first video segment based on the complexity information from the MDF and the power metric. The mobile device may dynamically alter the decoding process to save energy based on the detected power/energy level.
