NON-CONTACT APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CAPTURING SKIN SURFACE IMAGE DATA

A non-contact skin imaging device for capturing 2D and 3D textural data from a skin surface using a photometric stereo technique in which a skin surface position detector is arranged to sense when the skin surface is in the optimal position for the 2D and 3D textural data to be collected. The device may comprise an optical range finder for determining a position of the skin surface, whereby capture of photometric stereo image data can be automatically triggered when the skin surface is in the optimal position. With this arrangement, a decision to capture the photometric stereo image data can be taken without the input of a human user.

Image encoding and display

An image encoding method includes, for each of left and right images of an image stereo pair, identifying a region of interest (ROI) in an input image, generating multiple representations of that input image such that one representation is a high field of view (FOV) representation including substantially all of the input image and another representation is a low FOV representation having a lower FOV than the high FOV representation and including at least the ROI. The relationship between pixel resolution and image size for the high and low FOV representations is such that, in relation to the ROI, the low FOV representation provides more image detail than the high FOV representation. The method also includes generating one or more multiplexed images by juxtaposing portions of the left and right, high and low FOV representations so as to include all image content thereof in fewer than four multiplexed images.

Three-dimensional information restoration device, three-dimensional information restoration system, and three-dimensional information restoration method

A three-dimensional information reconstraction device includes a corresponding point detector that detects a plurality of corresponding point pairs to which a first feature point included in a first image captured by a first image capturing device and a second feature point included in a second image captured by a second image capturing device correspond, and a three-dimensional coordinate deriver that, based on the plurality of corresponding point pairs, reconstructs three-dimensional coordinates to which the first feature point is inverse-projected.

Methods for full parallax compressed light field 3D imaging systems

A compressed light field imaging system is described. The light field 3D data is analyzed to determine optimal subset of light field samples to be (acquired) rendered, while the remaining samples are generated using multi-reference depth-image based rendering. The light field is encoded and transmitted to the display. The 3D display directly reconstructs the light field and avoids data expansion that usually occurs in conventional imaging systems. The present invention enables the realization of full parallax 3D compressed imaging system that achieves high compression performance while minimizing memory and computational requirements.

A method of aligning optical axes of cameras for a non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs is disclosed. The one or more programs comprise instructions, which when executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to perform by one or more autonomous vehicle driving modules execution of processing of images using the following steps comprising: calibrating intrinsic parameters of a set of cameras; extracting corner points associated with a pattern; and computing a vanishing point based on information on the extracted corner points.

The present invention embraces a system for measuring the 3D shape of an object using a structured light projector and an image sensor such as a scanner or camera. The structured light projector projects a pseudo random dot pattern onto the object that is positioned on a planar surface. The image sensor captures the 3D image of the object from the reflective surface and determines the dimensions or shape of the object. The surface displays the projected dot pattern and defines a grid based on the projected dot pattern. The dot pattern comprising a plurality of dots distributed on the grid such that neighboring dots within a certain sub-window size are unique sub-patterns. The neighboring dots are arranged in a staggered grid format relative to one axis of grid.

Stereoscopic display technologies are provided. A computing device generates a stereoscopic display of an object by coordinating a first image and a second image. To reduce discomfort or to reduce diplopic content, the computing device may adjust at least one display property of the first image and/or the second image depending on one or more factors. The factors may include a time period associated with the display of the object, the vergence distance to the object, the distance to the focal plane of the display, contextual data interpreted from the images and/or any combination of these and other factors. Adjustments to the display properties can include a modification of one or more contrast properties and/or other modifications to the images. The adjustment to the display properties may be applied with varying levels of intensity and/or be applied at different times depending on one or more factors and/or contextual information.

In a measurement device, a controller causes an imaging unit to generate a plurality of first pictures based on a first image and a plurality of second pictures based on a second image. The controller determines whether or not there is blurring on the basis of at least two of the plurality of first pictures. The controller determines whether or not there is blurring on the basis of at least two of the plurality of second pictures. The controller causes a measurement unit to perform measurement when the controller determines that there is no blurring in first picture blurring determination and second picture blurring determination.

Video processing method and apparatus for use with a sequence of stereoscopic images

To generate a warning that a stereoscopic image sequence has been synthesised from a 2D image sequence, a video processor correlates left-eye image data and right-eye image data to identify any sustained temporal offset between the left-eye and right-eye image data. A measure of sustained correlation between a measured spatial distribution of horizontal disparity and a spatial model can also be used to generate the warning.

Methods and apparatus for 3D imaging and custom manufacturing

Apparatuses and systems for generating faithful 3D geometric models that correspond to the shape of an imaged 3D physical object; for storing, transmitting, and transforming those 3D models; for manufacturing 3D objects based upon those models; and for capture, transmission, storage, and transformation of the 3D models and manufacturing of objects from those models. Methods can include generating a 3D model by imaging a 3D object, transforming that 3D model with a transforming device to conform to a negative shape of the 3D object, using photogrammetry to create images from known non-repeatable positions, and using landmarks to identify common reference points in those images.
