Method and control unit for detecting a change of a relative yaw angle within a stereo-video system for a vehicle
10013762 · 2018-07-03 · ·

A method for recognizing a change of a relative yaw angle at a stereo video system for a vehicle. An image pair is read in from first and second cameras at a first time, and a further image is read in from the first camera at a later time. A stationary surface is ascertained using the image pair and the stereo base to obtain an angle of inclination of the stereo video system. The stationary surface is determined using the first image of the image pair and the further image to obtain a comparison angle. A correspondence transformation between the first image and the further image is acquired if the stereo video system has moved by a distance between the first time and the further time. The angle of inclination is compared with the comparison angle to recognize the change of the relative yaw angle.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL (3D) IMAGE RENDERING METHOD AND APPARATUS

A three-dimensional (3D) image rendering method and an apparatus are provided. The 3D image rendering method includes determining optical images associated with candidate viewpoint positions in a viewing zone, determining virtual rays intersecting a pixel of a display panel based on the determined optical images, and assigning a pixel value to the pixel based on respective distances between intersection points between the rays and an optical layer and optical elements of the optical layer.

An image recognition approach employs both computer generated and manual image reviews to generate image tags characterizing an image. The computer generated and manual image reviews can be performed sequentially or in parallel. The generated image tags may be provided to a requester in real-time, be used to select an advertisement, and/or be used as the basis of an internet search. In some embodiments generated image tags are used as a basis for an upgraded image review. A confidence of a computer generated image review may be used to determine whether or not to perform a manual image review.

A mobile terminal includes: a display; and a controller configured to: cause the display to display a plurality of videos captured by a 360-degree camera; generate a 360-degree video by combining or stitching the plurality of videos; and cause the display to display a stitching region corresponding to a focused photographing object when the focused photographing object included in the 360-degree video is placed in the stitching region that is a boundary region in which at least two of the plurality of videos are connected.

Dynamic sensor array for augmented reality system
09934754 · 2018-04-03 · ·

A system and method for generating a dynamic sensor array for an augmented reality system is described. A head mounted device includes one or more sensors, an augmented reality (AR) application, and a sensor array module. The sensor array module identifies available sensors from other head mounted devices that are geographically located within a predefined area. A dynamic sensor array is formed based on the available sensors and the one or more sensors. The dynamic sensor array is updated based on an operational status of the available sensors and the one or more sensors. The AR application generates AR content based on data from the dynamic sensor array. A display of the head mounted device displays the AR content.

A stereoscopic endoscope apparatus includes: an image pickup device configured to pick up optical images for a right eye and a left eye; a similarity degree determination portion configured to receive input of an image signal for the right eye and an image signal for the left eye outputted from the image pickup device, and calculate a similarity degree between the image for the right eye and the image for the left eye; and an image signal output portion configured to switch and output a three-dimensional image signal formed of the image signal for the right eye and the image signal for the left eye and a two-dimensional image signal formed of either one of the image signal for the right eye and the image signal for the left eye, based on the similarity degree calculated by the similarity degree determination portion.

Methods and systems for content processing

Mobile phones and other portable devices are equipped with a variety of technologies by which existing functionality can be improved, and new functionality can be provided. Some aspects relate to visual search capabilities, and determining appropriate actions responsive to different image inputs. Others relate to processing of image data. Still others concern metadata generation, processing, and representation. Yet others concern user interface improvements. Other aspects relate to imaging architectures, in which a mobile phone's image sensor is one in a chain of stages that successively act on packetized instructions/data, to capture and later process imagery. Still other aspects relate to distribution of processing tasks between the mobile device and remote resources (the cloud). Elemental image processing (e.g., simple filtering and edge detection) can be performed on the mobile phone, while other operations can be referred out to remote service providers. The remote service providers can be selected using techniques such as reverse auctions, through which they compete for processing tasks. A great number of other features and arrangements are also detailed.

INFANT MONITORING SYSTEM

A monitoring system includes a sensor, a processing block and an alert generator. The sensor is used to generate images of an infant. The processing block processes one or more of the images and identifies a condition with respect to the infant. Then alert generator causes generation of an alert signal if the identified condition warrants external notification. In an embodiment, the sensor is a 3D camera, and the 3D camera, the processing block and the alert generator are part of a unit placed in the vicinity of the infant. The monitoring system further includes microphones and motion sensors to enable detection of sounds and movement.

STEREO IMAGE GENERATION AND INTERACTIVE PLAYBACK
20180033209 · 2018-02-01 ·

Video data of an environment may be prepared for stereoscopic presentation to a user in a virtual reality or augmented reality experience. According to one method, a plurality of locations distributed throughout a viewing volume may be designated, at which a plurality of vantages are to be positioned to facilitate viewing of the environment from proximate the locations. For each location, a plurality of images of the environment, captured from viewpoints proximate the location, may be retrieved. For each location, the images may be reprojected to a three-dimensional shape and combined to generate a combined image. The combined image may be applied to one or more surfaces of the three-dimensional shape to generate a vantage. The vantages may be stored such that the vantages can be used to generate stereoscopic viewpoint video of the scene, as viewed from at least two virtual viewpoints corresponding to viewpoints of an actual viewer's eyes within the viewing volume.
