09769357 · 2017-09-19 · ·

Systems and methods for border detection on videos are disclosed herein. The system can include a refinement component that updates a variable as a function of a change in line number, wherein the change in line number is ascertained in response to a change in luminance values and/or chroma values associated with a border and a video area included in a frame associated with an original video. Further, the system also includes a trimming component that, as a function of the variable, crops the border from the frame that includes the video area of the resized original video.

Methods for determining localized outages and distributed signal verification of set-top boxes

Embodiments disclose systems and methods for testing and determining outages of communication systems. A server can receive signal-reception-related information from set-top boxes (STBs) in a particular geographical region, where a STB: receives signals having a predefined pattern, generates a comparison of the predefined pattern to reference patterns stored on the STB, generates the signal-reception-related information based on the comparison, and sends the signal-reception-related information. The server can determine an outage status for the particular geographical region based on the signal-reception-related information. The server can generate an output based on the outage status. The output is configured to provide information related to the outage status of the particular geographical region and information for possible responses related to the outage status. The server can send the output.

PERSPECTIVE CORRECTION FOR CURVED DISPLAY SCREENS

One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for performing perspective correction on one or more test images. The technique includes analyzing a first test image to detect a set of outer points and calculating a geometric plane equation based on the set of outer points. The technique further includes projecting a first set of points associated with a first curved screen model based on the geometric plane equation to generate a second set of points. The technique further includes comparing the second set of points to a set of inner points included in the first test image to determine at least one error value, and determining a screen curvature value based on the at least one error value.

USING AN OPTICAL INTERFACE BETWEEN A DEVICE UNDER TEST AND A TEST APPARATUS
20170264892 · 2017-09-14 ·

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and apparatus for device testing via an optical interface. In one instance, the apparatus may comprise a test controller to operate a camera to generate an image to capture test data displayed on a screen of a device under test. The test controller may be configured to extract the test data from the image, analyze the test data, and generate feedback information for the device under test, based at least in part on a result of the analysis of the test data. The camera may be included in the apparatus and communicatively coupled with the test controller. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Estimating Real-Time Delay of a Video Data Stream
20220046228 · 2022-02-10 ·

In an arrangement where a physical phenomenon affects a digital video camera and is measured or sensed by a sensor, a delay of a digital video stream from the digital video camera is estimated. The digital video stream is processed by a video processor for producing a signal that represents the changing over time of the effect of the physical phenomenon on the digital video camera. The signal is then compared with the sensor output signal, such as by using cross-correlation or cross-convolution, for estimating the time delay between the compared signals. The estimated time delay may be used for synchronizing when combining additional varied data to the digital video stream for low-error time alignment. The physical phenomenon may be based on mechanical position or motion, such as pitch, yaw, or roll. The time delay estimating may be performed once, upon user control, periodically, or continuously.

Methods and apparatus for automatic TV on/off detection

Methods and apparatus are disclosed to determine a power state of a device. An example apparatus includes a chart generator to determine respective counts for a plurality of measurements during a calibration period, the measurements indicative of an amount of power drawn by the device, a calculator to determine a first threshold and a second threshold based on at least one of the counts, the first threshold determined using most frequently logged measurement values, the most frequently logged measurement values based on counts performed after expiration of the calibration period, and a comparator to compare a measurement to the first threshold and to the second threshold.

Video Fildelity Measure

A video fidelity measure is determined for a video sequence (1) by determining distorted and original difference pictures (30, 40) as pixel-wise differences between pixels (14, 24) in a distorted picture (10) and corresponding pixels (24) in an original picture (20) and between pixels in a preceding distorted picture (11) and corresponding pixels in a preceding original picture (21). First and second maps representing distortions in pixel values between the distorted and original pictures (10, 20) turd between distorted and original difference pictures (30, 40) are determined. Third and sixth maps are determined as respective aggregations of local variabilities in pixels values in the distorted and original pictures (10, 20) and local variabilities in pixels values in the distorted and original difference pictures (30, 40), respectively. The video fidelity measure is then determined based on the first to third and sixth maps.

PROACTIVELY IDENTIFYING CABLE NETWORK IMPAIRMENTS BASED ON TELEMETRY DATA FROM CUSTOMER-PREMISES EQUIPMENT (CPE) DEVICES

Proactively identify cable network impairments based on telemetry data from customer-premises equipment (CPE) devices is disclosed. In some embodiments, a maintenance service retrieves telemetry parameters from CPE devices at a customer site communicatively coupled to a cable network infrastructure. The maintenance service analyzes the telemetry parameters to detect cable network impairments experienced by the CPE devices at the customer site (based on, e.g., whether a telemetry parameter from any CPE devices fails a corresponding telemetry threshold, whether the same telemetry failure is experienced by all CPE devices at the customer site, whether other neighboring customer sites also experience the same failure on all CPE devices, and/or whether a high post main tap (HPMT) parameter and an HPMT magnitude (HPMTM) parameter for the customer site fail corresponding thresholds, according to some embodiments). The maintenance service then assigns a maintenance classification that indicates a recommended service technician type for the customer site.

SCALING FACTOR DETECTION FOR COMPRESSED IMAGES AND VIDEOS
20210400256 · 2021-12-23 ·

Detection of scaling of compressed videos or images is provided. A frequency domain transformation is applied along both horizontal and vertical directions of input video or images to generate frequency domain data. Statistics in the frequency domain data are computed for each of the horizontal and vertical directions to extract features. The features are modeled to scores along each of the horizontal and vertical directions. An original resolution of the input video or images in the horizontal and vertical directions is identified according to the scores.
