Reference and non-reference video quality evaluation
11423942 · 2022-08-23 · ·

Devices and methods for determining image quality using full-reference and non-reference techniques. Full reference image quality may be determined prior to output of an image or video frame from an image sensor processor by temporarily retaining image data from the image sensor and comparing processed image data of the image to the retained, non-processed image data of the same image. Full reference image quality determination may be assisted by a heuristic-based fault indicator. Image quality may also be determined by a non-reference technique of matching the image to one of various scenarios that are associated with sets of heuristics and applying the heuristics of the particular scenario to the image. Instead of relying on a nominal frame rate, video timing quality may be determined by comparing the capture time interval between successive video frames to the presentation time interval of the same video frames.

Quality estimation of adaptive multimedia streaming

Mechanisms for predicting a multimedia session MOS are provided. The multimedia session has a video session and an audio session. The video quality and the audio quality are represented by vectors of per-time-unit scores of video quality and audio quality, respectively. The multimedia session is represented by a vector of the rebuffering start times of each rebuffering event, and a vector of the rebuffering durations of each rebuffering event. Audiovisual quality features are generated from the vectors of per-time-unit scores of video and audio quality. Buffering features are generated from the vector of rebuffering start times of each rebuffering event and the vector of rebuffering durations of each rebuffering event. A multimedia session MOS is then estimated based on the generated audiovisual quality features and the generated buffering features.

Systems and methods for identifying formality standard

The present disclosure relates to a system and method. The system includes: a storage device storing a set of instructions; and one or more processors in communication with the storage device. When executing the set of instructions, the one or more video processors: synchronize a signal with a first PN sequence, wherein the signal includes a plurality of second PN sequences, marked as 0 PN sequence, 1 PN sequence, . . . , (k−1) PN sequence, k sequence, wherein k is a positive integer number; determine that the signal is synchronized with the first PN sequence; determine a first target distance between the (k−1) PN sequence and the k sequence; and determine a formality standard of the signal based on the first target distance.

Method and device for picture quality assessment after dynamic panoramic video stream cropping

The present application provides a method and device for picture quality assessment after dynamic panoramic video stream cropping. An attention focus parameter is obtained, the attention focus parameter is used for representing an attention level of a user to a picture and the attention focus parameter is a function of a picture angle and a picture height; a resolution distribution parameter is obtained; the attention focus parameter and the resolution distribution parameter are combined to obtain a picture quality parameter that the user views in a dynamically cropped panoramic video stream; and the picture quality is assessed according to the picture quality parameter.

Systems and methods for measuring visual quality degradation in digital content
11425425 · 2022-08-23 · ·

Disclosed here are methods, systems, and devices for measuring visual quality degradation of digital content caused by an encoding process. There is received first data for a digital content item, which is not encoded by the encoding process, and second data for the digital content item, which is encoded by the encoding process. For a given artefact type, the first data and the second data are processed to obtain a first quality metric measuring visual quality degradation in the digital content item attributable to the given artefact type caused by the encoding process. A stored mapping corresponding to the given artefact type is applied to the first quality metric to obtain a second quality metric which measures visual quality degradation in the digital content item attributable to the given artefact type caused by the encoding process and approximates subjective assessment of the digital content item by a human visual system.

In one example, a signal processing device includes first processors, a controller, a first selection section, a second processor, a second selection section, and a first comparison section. The first processors are associated with first signals. The first processors perform a predetermined process on the basis of an associated first signal to generate a second signal. The controller generates a selection control signal. The first selection section selects the first signal to be supplied to a selected first processor on the basis of the selection control signal. The second processor performs the predetermined process on the basis of the selected first signal to generate a third signal. The second selection section selects the second signal generated by the selected first processor. The first comparison section compares the third signal and the second signal selected by the second selection section of the second signals with each other.
