Video client optimization during pause
A system and method for providing quality control in immersive video during pausing of a video streaming session. In one embodiment, a paused video frame may comprise a plurality of mixed quality video tiles depending on user gaze vector information. Under pause control, the video quality of all tiles of the paused video frame is equalized such that it is of same value for all the video tiles, which may be the video quality of the tiles presented in a viewport of the client device. The paused video frame having the same quality tiles throughout is used as a replacement video frame, which is presented to the client device player for decoding and displaying instead of the mixed quality video frame while the streaming session is paused.
VIDEO TRANSMISSION METHOD AND DEVICE
This application disclosed video transmission method and devices. An example method includes obtaining a first video and a second video, where the first video and the second video have same content, and image quality of the first video is lower than image quality of the second video. M first video frames and identifier information of N target frames based on the first video are obtained. Related frames corresponding to the N target frames are obtained from the second video based on the identifier information of the N target frames, where the target frames and the related frames have same identifier information but different image quality. The M first video frames and the N related frames are recorded to obtain a third video, where the third video is transmitted to a receiving device, and a data volume of the third video is less than a data volume of the second video.

Preserving image quality in temporally compressed video streams
When a temporally compressed video stream is decoded and subsequently re-encoded, quality is typically lost. The quality loss may be mitigated using information about how the source video stream was encoded during the re-encoding process. According to some aspects of the disclosure, this mitigation of quality loss can be facilitated by decoders that output such information and encoders that receive such information. These decoders and encoders may be separate devices. The functionality of these decoders and encoders may also be combined in a single device, such as a transcoding device. An example of the information that may be used during re-encoding is whether each portion of the original stream was intra-coded or non-intra-coded.

METHODS, DEVICES AND SYSTEMS FOR PARALLEL VIDEO ENCODING AND DECODING
A method for decoding a video bitstream is disclosed. The method comprises: entropy decoding a first portion of a video bitstream, wherein first portion of video bitstream is associated with a video frame, thereby producing a first portion of decoded data; entropy decoding a second portion of video bitstream, wherein second portion of video bitstream is associated with video frame, thereby producing a second portion of decoded data, wherein entropy decoding second portion of video bitstream is independent of entropy decoding first portion of video bitstream; and reconstructing a first portion of video frame associated with video bitstream using first portion of decoded data and second portion of decoded data.
Distributed architecture for encoding and delivering video content
A split architecture for encoding a video stream. A source encoder may encode a video content stream to obtain an encoded bitstream and a side information stream. The side information stream includes information characterizing rate and/or distortion estimation functions per block of the video content stream. Also, a different set of estimation functions may be included per coding mode. The encoded bitstream and side information stream may be received by a video transcoder, which transcodes the encoded bitstream to a client-requested picture resolution, according to a client-requested video format and bit rate. The side information stream allows the transcoder to efficiently and compactly perform rate control for its output bitstream, which is transmitted to the client device. This split architecture may be especially useful to operators of content delivery networks.

Method and system for real-time transcoding of MPEG-DASH on-demand media segments while in transit from content host to dash client
A system, method and computer program product for real-time post-processing system that transforms MPEG-DASH on-demand media streams, including a DASH media player device; an intercepting media server device; a MPEG-DASH content origin server device; and a proxy media client device coupled to the DASH media player device and the intercepting media server device and configured to intercept MPEG-DASH HTTP requests from the DASH media player device and forward the intercepted requests to the intercepting media server device instead of the MPEG-DASH content origin server device. The intercepting media server device is configured to act as an HTTP proxy device, and forward the intercepted requests to the MPEG-DASH content origin server, and with each corresponding MPEG-DASH media subsegment acquired perform analysis of the video media content within the subsegment and apply selective transcoding.
