Video information may define spherical video content having a duration. Spherical video content may define visual content viewable from a point of view as a function of progress through the spherical video content. Path information may define a path selection for the spherical video content. Path selection may include movement of a viewing window within the spherical video content. The viewing window may define extents of the visual content viewable from the point of view as the function of progress through the spherical video content. Time lapse parameter information may define at least two of a time portion of the duration, an image sampling rate, and a time lapse speed effect. A time lapse video may be generated based on the video information, the path information, and the time lapse parameter information.

Preview streaming of video data

A system and method for generating preview data from video data and using the preview data to select portions of the video data or determine an order with which to upload the video data. The system may sample video data to generate sampled video data and may identify portions of the sampled video data having complexity metrics exceeding a threshold. The system may upload a first portion of the video data corresponding to the identified portions while omitting a second portion of the video data. The system may determine an order with which to upload portions of the video data based on a complexity of the video data. Therefore, portions of the video data that may require additional processing after being uploaded may be prioritized and uploaded first. As a result, a latency between the video data being uploaded and a video summarization being received is reduced.

A video player tablet, or a mobile device includes a processor configured to receive live video and audio data from a communication network and format the video and audio data for display on the tablet. The processor is also configured to receive live meta-data from the communication network and format the meta-data for display on the same tablet. The processor is further configured to select the meta-data, and time synchronize the selected meta-data with the video and audio data for simultaneous display on the tablet, or mobile device.

Foreground analysis on parametric background surfaces

Techniques are described for projecting content onto a display surface and for analyzing the hand of a user that is placed over the display surface, such as when the user is making a command gesture. Based on the location and known shape of the display surface, a surface depth map is calculated corresponding to the display surface. Points of the calculated surface depth map are then subtracted from respective points an observed depth map to produce a foreground depth map corresponding to the user hand. The hand may be further characterized and tracked based on the foreground depth map.
