STD DETECTING CONDOM
20170234864 · 2017-08-17 ·

A condom for detection of STDs, including an interior condom surface having a control band and a test band, and an exterior condom surface that also has a control band and test band. Each test band allows binding and subsequent detection of STD antigens. A separate developing antibody produces a color change if bound to the antigen/antibody conjugate. The developing antibody may be present on the condom or applied separately after use.

Process for removing growth factors from platelets
09757418 · 2017-09-12 ·

In vitro and in vivo application of sub-atmospheric, negative pressure on growth factor starting material, such as whole blood, extracts growth factors from the platelet granules of the growth factor starting material in a non-destructive medium without activating the clotting process. The extracted growth factors are released into a growth factor composition containing blood plasma, extracellular fluid or interstitial fluid depending upon the type and location of the growth factor starting material. The growth factors have a weight of about 70-76 kDaltons and are applied in either a filtered or unfiltered state topically to the area of a surface wound to effect healing. The extracted growth factors are also injected into soft tissue, such as a torn tendon, to promote tissue growth and healing. The growth factors are released in one method from a patient's own blood. In another method the growth factors are released from a whole blood source and freeze dried by lyophilization. Then at a later date, the freeze-dried product is reconstituted by normal saline for treatment of a patient's wound, for use in a surgical procedure, or for tissue regeneration.

In-situ formed intervertebral fusion device and method

An orthopedic device for implanting between adjacent vertebrae comprising: an arcuate balloon and a hardenable material within said balloon. In some embodiments, the balloon has a footprint that substantially corresponds to a perimeter of a vertebral endplate. An inflatable device is inserted through a cannula into an intervertebral space and oriented so that, upon expansion, a natural angle between vertebrae will be at least partially restored. At least one component selected from the group consisting of a load-bearing component and an osteobiologic component is directed into the inflatable device through a fluid communication means.

MEDICAL DEVICES COATED WITH POLYDOPAMINE AND ANTIBODIES
20210386916 · 2021-12-16 ·

The present disclosure provides for a medical device or a substrate coated with polydopamine which is further linked to ligands such as antibodies and/or antibody fragments. The polydopamine coating and the ligands may be linked through a linker such as an organic polymer.

Liquid injectable copolymer

The invention provides liquid injectable copolymers of TMC and HTMC that are degradable in vivo. Degradation can be tailored by adjusting the amount of HTMC in the copolymer, the initial molecular weight of the copolymer, and the characteristics of the initiator used in its preparation. Specifically, the degradation rate increases as the amount of HTMC incorporated into the copolymer increases, as the molecular weight of the copolymer decreases, and as the hydrophobicity of the initiator decreases. Moreover, the degradation yields products such as glycerol and carbon dioxide that are non-toxic in vivo, and which will not cause a substantive change in tissue pH upon implantation in vivo. The copolymers may be used in applications such as drug delivery and as coatings.

DUAL FUNCTION SURFACE FOR CELL CAPTURE AND SPREADING

There is provided a surface functionalized with cross linking groups adapted to receive antibodies and/or fragments thereof. The surface has an antibody binding biomolecule having a linker region which is covalently crosslinked to functional groups and an antibody binding region. The surface also has a cell interacting biomolecule having a linker region which is covalently crosslinked to functional groups of the surface and a cell interacting region that imparts functional attributes including cell adhesion, spreading, proliferation, differentiation and/or a functional response. The two biomolecules are present in independently controlled concentrations and have similar small molecular weights.
