Systems, methods, and devices for treating a tissue site on a mammal having hair proximate the tissue site
Systems, methods, and devices are presented for treating a tissue site and managing hair proximate the tissue site. A composition is provided for inhibiting, removing, or weakening hair proximate the tissue site and for providing an improved fluid seal by a flexible film drape over the tissue site. In some example embodiments, a hair-modification agent is disposed at least proximate a peripheral edge of a treatment manifold between a drape and epidermis proximate a tissue site. The hair-modification agent can be configured to flow over imperfections on the epidermis and to form a fluid seal against the epidermis, and can further be configured to at least substantially weaken hair on the epidermis as the hair encounters the hair-modification agent.
Compositions and Methods for Treatment of Cardiovascular Disorders
ECM based compositions including acellular ECM and antibiotics, and methods for employing same to treat damaged cardiovascular tissue and, thereby, disorders.
PREVENTATIVE THERAPY FOR POST-TRAUMATIC OSTEOARTHRITIS
Compositions comprising a reverse-temperature sensitive hydrogel comprising a biopolymer such as a polysaccharide and a synthetic polymer, and a compound in an amount that reversibly inhibits respiratory enzyme complex I, and methods of using the composition, are provided.
Apparatuses, methods, and compositions for the treatment and prophylaxis of chronic wounds
According to an illustrative embodiment a method to promote healing of a wound is provided comprising contacting the wound with a biologically active composition comprising a lipoic acid derivative and gelatin. In another embodiment a wound dressing is provided comprising a scaffold coated with a biologically active composition comprising a lipoic acid derivative. In a further embodiment, a system is provided for treating a tissue site of a patient, the system comprising a reduced-pressure source to supply reduced pressure, a manifold to distribute reduced pressure to a tissue site and a scaffold coated with a biologically active composition comprising a lipoic acid derivative. Methods for producing such a system and scaffold are also disclosed.
ABSORBENT ARTICLES COMPRISING GLYCERIDE COPOLYMERS
The present invention relates to absorbent articles comprising species of glyceride copolymers that provide unexpectedly improved softening performance and formulability.
Compositions and Methods for Treatment of Cardiovascular Disorders
Methods for treating cardiovascular disorders that include administration of an ECM based composition to damaged cardiovascular tissue in conjunction with a treatment remedy, such as ventricular assistance and transmyocardial revascularization (TMR), which induces enhanced bioremodeling of the damaged cardiovascular tissue and regeneration of new cardiovascular tissue and associated structures with site-specific structural and functional properties.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR INHIBITING STENOSIS, OBSTRUCTION, OR CALCIFICATION OF A NATIVE HEART VALVE, STENTED HEART VALVE OR BIOPROSTHESIS
The present invention relates to methods for inhibiting stenosis, obstruction, or calcification of a valve following implantation of a valve prosthesis or a native valve which develops disease via the Lrp5/Wnt Pathway in the presence of elevated lipids due to elevated Low Density Lipoprotein. This invention involves dispensing a combination of medications to target inflammation and attachment of the target cell and the secondary drugs to inhibit proliferation and calcification on an elastical stent, gortex graft or valve leaflet. The combination therapy inhibits bioprosthesis and native valve calcification with improvement of the longevity of the prosthetic material including the stent, the native valve, and the gortex covering. The valve prosthesis and or gortex graft is mounted on the elastical stent or prosthesis such that the elastical stent is connected to the valve.
Directed Stem Cell Recruitment
The invention is directed to methods of inducing cell recruitment and tissue regeneration at a target site in a subject. It is also based, in part, on the discovery that a subject's own biologic resources and environmental conditions can be used for in situ tissue regeneration and thereby reduce or eliminate the need for donor cell procurement and ex vivo manipulation of such donor cells. Methods are disclosed for recruitment of a subject's own stem cells to a target region by inducing a sustained positive pressure at a target site, such as the kidney, thereby increasing the number of pluripotent cells capable of differentiating to regenerate the target tissue.
ANTITHROMBOTIC MATERIAL
An antithrombogenic material includes a coating material containing: a cationic polymer containing, as a constituent monomer, a compound selected from the group consisting of alkyleneimines, vinylamines, allylamines, lysine, protamine, and diallyldimethylammonium chloride; and an anionic compound containing a sulfur atom and having anticoagulant activity; and a base material whose surface is coated with the coating material; wherein the cationic polymer is covalently bound to the base material; the anionic compound containing a sulfur atom and having anticoagulant activity is immobilized on the surface of the base material by ionic bonding to the cationic polymer; and the average thickness of the coating material is 15 to 400 nm.
Compositions and Methods for Treatment of Cardiovascular Disorders
ECM based compositions including amniotic membrane and methods for employing same to treat cardiovascular disorders.
