One embodiment of the present invention is directed to compositions and methods for enhancing attachment of soft tissues to a metal prosthetic device. In one embodiment a construct is provided comprising a metal implant having a porous metal region, wherein said porous region exhibits a nano-textured surface.

EMULSION COMPOSITION FOR CHEMOEMBOLIZATION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME

The present invention relates to an emulsion composition for chemoembolization comprising a nanoparticle comprising a drug and a biocompatible polymer, a water-soluble contrast agent and a water-insoluble contrast agent, and a water-insoluble drug as well as an aqueous drug can be administered in a form of stable emulsion, and drugs are slowly released, thereby enhancing the effect of chemoembolization.

Drug eluting balloon

The present invention is an inflatable balloon which is enclosed by an expandable cover which becomes increasingly porous/permeable during expansion. The balloon is coated or enclosed with a matrix which contains a pharmaceutically active agent. During expansion of the balloon, the pharmaceutically active agent is released or extruded through the expandable cover into a body cavity such as an artery or vein. The present invention also provides for a method of treating a disease or condition by delivering the inflatable balloon to a particular body cavity.

HIGH-PRECISION DRUG DELIVERY BY DUAL-DOMAIN OCULAR DEVICE

The present invention relates to a nanocomposite ocular device that can release drugs within a close distance to the ocular surface and provide controlled and sustained release of the drug at a constant rate. The device can achieve both optical and medical functions. The device comprises a drug, one or more reservoir domains, and a barrier layer configured to block the drug diffusion paths from the reservoir domain to the ocular surface in the eye of the subject, wherein the drug partitions between the reservoir domain and the barrier layer, and the equilibrium drug solubility in the reservoir domain is at least five folds higher than that in the barrier layer.

Embodiments described herein relate to restorative solutions for segmental peripheral nerve (PN) defects using allografted PNs for stimulating PN repair. More specifically, embodiments described herein provide for localized immunosuppression (LIS) surrounding PN allografts as an alternative to systemically suppressing a patient's entire immune system. Methods described herein provide for injection of ISV agents into a nerve graft prior to implantation of the nerve graft into a recipient. Methods described herein also provide for injection of ISV agents with a polymerizable carrier into a nerve graft, polymerization of the carrier within the graft, and implantation of the nerve graft into a recipient. Certain embodiments provide for reinnervation of central nervous system (CNS) axons in a spinal cord utilizing a peripheral nerve graft.
