A convertible hat is disclosed. The convertible hat of the present invention comprises: a band (110) coupled to the head of a user; and a brim (120) provided horizontally in a certain area on the front surface of the band (110) to block sunlight. Furthermore, the convertible hat of the present invention preferably includes a pair of shape transformation crowns (130, 130a) that each have one end coupled to the band (110) and the other end spread out over the band (110), and are positioned in either a cap position in which the crowns cover the head of the user, or a sun cap position in which the crowns extend from the side surface of the brim (120) to increase the sun blocking area of the brim (120). Accordingly, a single convertible hat can be used by transforming into the two forms of a cap and a sun cap.

The present invention provides hats with attachment assemblies allowing them to be detachably secured to an article of clothing. In one example, the attachment assembly permits the hat to be detachably secured in an exterior-side out configuration to a belt of medium width worn around the wearer's waist, without requiring the hats to be inverted or reversed, and without any need for pockets, linings, zippers or the like. The hats may also be provided with retention members for holding the hats in a simple folded configuration when carried on the person. In such a configuration small personal items such as keys, loose change, mobile telephones may be carried in the retained, folded hat.

A hat-umbrella comprises a circular frame with a shade attached to a plurality of extendable and retractable radial supports that form an umbrella around the circular frame. When expanded, the radial supports extend away from the circular frame, thus a large shade is formed. When retracted, the radial supports collapses around the circular frame and the shade is folded.

An expandable headband includes an elongated, pleated-fabric cover having two opposing ends, a front edge and a rear edge. The two opposing ends are interconnected with an elastomeric strap for securing the cover over the head as with a conventional headband. To form a sun visor, a wearer pulls an extendable support rod at the front edge to expand the cover beyond the forehead.

A hinge pivotally connects the upper tubular member with the lower tubular member and enables relative rotation of the upper tubular member with respect to the lower tubular member about a pivot axis defined by the hinge.

A retractable protection device for protecting a user's head against environmental elements, the device includes at least one hoop, at least two articulations of at least one hoop with a base, each articulation being attached to one end of at least one hoop, at least one articulation comprising a means for locking said hoop in a predefined position referred to as the deployed position. The device further includes at least partially closed base, configured to surround the user's nape at least partially, and a sheet of fabric attached to each hoop and the base to create a protection screen around the user's head in the deployed position, the fabric and hoops being circumscribed by the base in a position referred to as the folded position that minimizes the size of the device, between the user's nape and shoulders, freeing up the user's back.

A retractable protection device for protecting a user's head against environmental elements, the device includes at least one hoop, at least two articulations of at least one hoop with a base, each articulation being attached to one end of at least one hoop, at least one articulation comprising a means for locking said hoop in a predefined position referred to as the deployed position. A collapsible hat having a brim is made by inserting a leading end portion of an elongated, three-dimensional, frame element into an opening of an annular compartment extending around an outer periphery of the brim until the leading end portion passes through another opening of the annular compartment. The leading end portion is connected to a trailing end portion to make the frame element circumferentially complete to thereby impart a three-dimensional shape to the outer periphery of the brim that corresponds to the configuration of the three-dimensional frame element.

The UV ray-blocking headwear is adapted to be an apparel item. The UV ray-blocking headwear is adapted to be worn on the head. The UV ray-blocking headwear is a UV blocking sunshield that is attaches to the head such that UV radiation is prevented from reaching the head, ears, or nape of the neck.
