System for peritoneal dialysis and extracorporeal blood treatments

A dialysis system is configured to enable a patient to undergo both peritoneal dialysis and extracorporeal blood treatments. The example dialysis system includes a base unit configurable to provide a first fluid for use in preforming at least one peritoneal dialysis treatment at a first time. The base unit is further configurable to provide a second, different fluid for use in at least one extracorporeal blood treatment at a second, different time. The example dialysis system also includes a blood treatment unit configured to be docked to the base unit. The blood treatment unit includes a blood pump configured to pump blood from the patient to a blood filter and from the blood filter back to the patient. The blood filter or a blood line in communication with the blood filter receives the second fluid from the base unit for use in the at least one extracorporeal blood treatment.

BLOOD PURIFICATION DEVICE

A blood purification device includes a device body and a cassette. The cassette includes: a casing that accommodates a removal water receptacle; and pump tube. The device body includes fingers, a driving unit, and a housing. The cassette can be attached to and removed from the housing of the device body so that the pump tubes are positioned between the plurality of fingers and the outer surfaces of the casing.

CASSETTE SYSTEM INTEGRATED APPARATUS

A cassette integrated system. The cassette integrated system includes a mixing cassette, a balancing cassette, a middle cassette fluidly connected to the mixing cassette and the balancing cassette and at least one pod. The mixing cassette is fluidly connected to the middle cassette by at least one fluid line and the middle cassette is fluidly connected to the balancing cassette by at least one fluid line. The at least one pod is connected to at least two of the cassettes wherein the pod is located in an area between the cassettes.

MEASURING FLUID FLOW ASSOCIATED WITH A DIALYSIS MACHINE

A dialysis machine (e.g., a peritoneal dialysis (PD) machine) can include a control unit configured to monitor an amount of fluid withdrawn from a heater bag line during a PD treatment. A processor in the control unit is configured to operate a first pump to draw fluid into a first pump chamber and measure a first fluid volume in the first pump chamber. The processor is further configured to operate the first pump and a second pump to transfer fluid from the first pump chamber to a second pump chamber, measure a second fluid volume in the second pump chamber, and determine a measured fluid volume for a single pump cycle based on the first fluid volume and the second fluid volume. The first fluid volume is correlated to the second fluid volume and, therefore, the multiple independent measurements increase an accuracy of the fluid volume measurement.

PERSONALIZED RENAL FAILURE CHRONIC CARE SYSTEMS AND METHODS

A personalized chronic care apparatus is disclosed herein. An example apparatus includes a server operating over a network, software stored on the server, and a compliance entry feature configured to receive compliance information related to a patient. The software includes an automated learning method for creating an overall kidney maintenance plan that specifies one or more controllable variables as actions performed by the patient to prevent or reduce complications associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The automated learning method is configured to perform an evaluation to determine whether a selected controllable variable is to be included in the overall kidney maintenance plan by confirming when (i) a worsening of kidney function is not determined between first evaluation data and second evaluation data over a testing period, and (ii) the compliance information provides a confirmation that the selected controllable variable was modified over the testing period.

A dialysis system comprises a filtration means, a pump and a sorbent device for performing a dialysis treatment and/or for regenerating a dialysate solution.

IN-LINE HEATING OF DIALYSIS FLUIDS
20210069399 · 2021-03-11 ·

Dialysis systems and methods for operating dialysis machines (e.g., peritoneal dialysis machines) for conducting dialysis treatments are disclosed. The dialysis system may include a dialysis machine for transferring dialysate to a patient from a dialysate source. The dialysate may flow from the dialysate source through a cartridge or cassette (e.g., a disposable cartridge or cassette) positionable within the dialysis machine. The cassette includes a fluid flow channel. The dialysis machine includes a heating chamber for in-line heating of the dialysate in the fluid flow channel. The fluid flow channel is arranged and configured to provide turbulent flow of the dialysate through the fluid flow channel to provide increased heat transfer from the heating chamber to the dialysate.

Kink and compression tolerant medical tubing

Medical fluid tubing described herein is configured to be advantageously tolerant of kinking and/or crushing. That is, the tubing is configured such that even if the tubing is kinked or fully compressed at least some portion of the lumen defined by the tubing will remain open, and some fluid will continue to flow through the tubing. Such kink and compression tolerant medical tubing can be advantageously used in association with medical fluid pumping systems (e.g., peritoneal dialysis systems and the like). In some examples, the tubing described herein is used in conjunction with, or as a part of, a medical fluid cassette that interfaces with such medical fluid pumping systems.

Medical treatment system and methods using a plurality of fluid lines

A medical treatment system, such as peritoneal dialysis system, may include control and other features to enhance patient comfort and ease of use. For example, a peritoneal dialysis system may include a control system that can adjust the volume of fluid infused into the peritoneal cavity to prevent the intraperitoneal fluid volume from exceeding a pre-determined amount. The control system can adjust by adding one or more therapy cycles, allowing for fill volumes during each cycle to be reduced. The control system may continue to allow the fluid to drain from the peritoneal cavity as completely as possible before starting the next therapy cycle. The control system may also adjust the dwell time of fluid within the peritoneal cavity during therapy cycles in order to complete a therapy within a scheduled time period. The cycler may also be configured to have a heater control system that monitors both the temperature of a heating tray and the temperature of a bag of dialysis fluid in order to bring the temperature of the dialysis fluid rapidly to a specified temperature, with minimal temperature overshoot.

Dialysis systems and methods for operating dialysis machines (e.g., peritoneal dialysis machines) for conducting dialysis treatments, may include a dialysis machine for transferring dialysate to a patient from a dialysate bag, and a warmer pouch for flowing the dialysate through to heat to a predetermined temperature before flowing into the patient. The dialysate may flow from the dialysate bag through the warmer pouch for pumping into the patient via tubing. A filter may be coupled to the warmer pouch, and the filter may be configured to filter out air content from the dialysate.
