Binaurally coordinated frequency translation in hearing assistance devices
Disclosed herein, among other things, are apparatus and methods for a binaurally coordinated frequency translation for hearing assistance devices. In various method embodiments, an audio input signal is received at a first hearing assistance device for a wearer. The audio input signal is analyzed and a first set of target parameters is calculated. A third set of target parameters is derived from the first set and a second set of calculated target parameters received from a second hearing assistance device using a programmable criteria, and frequency lowered auditory cues are generated using the third set of target parameters. The derived third set of target parameters is used in both the first hearing assistance device and the second hearing assistance device for binaurally coordinated frequency lowering.
Apparatus and method for enhancing sound produced by a gaming application
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a computing device having a controller to modify sound produced by a gaming application according to an otological profile of a user. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
PROCESSOR-READABLE MEDIUM, APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR UPDATING HEARING AID
A system for updating a hearing aid by providing an update to a hearing aid to configure the hearing aid for an acoustic environment with a sound profile different than a physical environment a user is currently located in with an acoustic sample representative of the acoustic environment.
Method of fitting a hearing aid system, a hearing aid fitting system and a computerized device
A method (100) of fitting a hearing aid system comprising identification of an auditory neuro-synaptopathy of a person based on the sensitivity of the person to temporal masking, a hearing aid fitting system, a computerized device (200, 300), a server (302) hosting a web service and a computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable instructions, which when executed carry out said method.
System for combined neural and acoustic hearing stimulation
There is provided a hearing assistance system comprising an auditory prosthesis device for neural stimulation of a patient's hearing at one of the patient's ears and a hearing aid for acoustic stimulation of the patient's hearing at the same one or the other one of the patient's ears.
Enhancing perception of frequency-lowered speech
Among other things, a sound processing device system is disclosed to assist a hearing-impaired human listener recognize speech sounds or phonemes. The device system may be configured at least to generate an output audio signal at least by transposing and causing a negative rank ordering of frequency of at least a portion of the input audio signal. Compression also may be performed on the at least the portion of the input audio signal as part of generating the output audio signal. The negative rank ordering may be performed on a high-frequency portion of the input audio signal that becomes a low-frequency portion of the output audio signal by the transposing. The low-frequency portion of the output audio signal may represent an inverted ordering of frequencies or frequency segments present in the high-frequency portion of the input audio signal.
Fitting a bilateral hearing prosthesis system
A hearing prosthesis system includes a processor arranged to communicate a stimulation signal to a vibration stimulator of a first hearing prosthesis. The processor receives an indication of a measured input signal from a first transducer of a second hearing prosthesis. A processor calculates a feedback associated with the stimulation. The processor may also be further configured to adjust a gain table or an input to a feedback reduction algorithm in response to the calculated feedback. Additionally, the processor of the hearing prosthesis system may also be arranged to communicate a second stimulation signal to a vibration stimulator of the second hearing prosthesis. The processor receives an indication of a measured input signal from the first hearing prosthesis. Further, the processor calculates a second feedback associated with the second stimulation.
