ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR GENERATING AUDIO SIGNAL
An electronic device and method for generating an audio signal is provided. According to various example embodiments, an electronic device may include a display configured to depict visual information to the outside of the electronic device. The electronic device further includes an actuator to cause the display to vibrate. A processor is electrically connected to the actuator and the display. The processor applies a pilot signal to the actuator, and detects an amount of vibration of the display caused by applying the pilot signal. The processor sets an environment of the audio signal based on the amount of vibration of the display.
AIRFLOW SENSORS FOR SPEAKERS
Aspects of the subject technology relate to electronic devices having speakers and airflow sensors for the speakers. In one or more implementations, the airflow sensor may be formed, in part, by a mesh structure that spans a port in a housing of the electronic device. In one or more implementations, the airflow sensor may be formed, in part, by an exposed portion of a conductive trace of the speaker.
Playback Device Configuration
Examples described herein involve configuring a playback device based on distortion, such as that caused by a barrier. One implementation may involve causing the playback device to play audio content according to an existing playback configuration, determining an existing frequency response of the playback device in a given system, and determining whether a difference between the existing frequency response of the playback device in the given system and a predetermined frequency response for the playback device is greater than a predetermined distortion threshold. If it is determined that the difference between the existing frequency response of the playback device and the predetermined frequency response for the playback device is greater than the predetermined distortion threshold, then the existing playback configuration of the playback device is changed to an updated playback configuration of the playback device and the playback device plays audio content according to the updated playback configuration.
NON-INTRUSIVE TRANSDUCER HEALTH DETECTION
Embodiments are disclosed for non-intrusive transducer health detection in an audio system. In an embodiment, a method performed by the audio system comprises outputting one or more encoded inaudible acoustic signals into an acoustic transmission medium using a first transducer. The one or more encoded inaudible acoustic signals are received from the acoustic transmission medium using a second transducer of the audio system. The received one or more encoded inaudible acoustic signals are used to identify failure or degradation of the first or second transducer.
ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SAME
In some embodiments, the electronic device includes a speaker, a microphone, a memory, a digital signal processor (DSP), a driver, and a processor. The processor is configured to: obtain a first sound signal by combining a first signal, a second signal, and a first anti-phase signal; extract, from a second sound signal related to the first sound signal, a first DPOAE signal; obtain a third sound signal by combining a fourth signal, a fifth signal, and a second anti-phase signal; extract, from a fourth sound signal related to the third sound signal, a second DPOAE signal; obtain a user hearing profile based on the first and second DPOAE signals; and perform, based on the user hearing profile, at least one of a sound volume change and an equalization (EQ) change of a sound to be output.
Systems and methods for equalizing audio for playback on an electronic device
Embodiments are provided for receiving a request to output audio at a first speaker and a second speaker of an electronic device, determining that the electronic device is oriented in a portrait orientation or a landscape orientation, identifying, based on the determined orientation, a first equalization setting for the first speaker and a second equalization setting for the second speaker, providing, for output at the first speaker, a first audio signal with the first equalization setting, and providing, for output at the second speaker, a second audio signal with the second equalization setting.
Validation of audio calibration using multi-dimensional motion check
Examples described herein involve validating motion of a microphone during calibration of a playback device. An example implementation involves a mobile device detecting, via one or more microphones, audio signals emitted from one or more playback devices as part of a calibration process. After the one or more playback devices emit the audio signals, the mobile device determines whether the detected audio signals indicate that sufficient horizontal translation of the mobile device occurred during the calibration process. When the detected audio signals indicate that insufficient horizontal translation occurred, the mobile device displays a prompt to move the mobile device more while the one or more playback devices emit one or more additional audio signals as part of the calibration process. When the detected audio signals indicate that sufficient horizontal translation occurred, the mobile device calibrates the one or more playback devices with a calibration based on the detected audio signals.
Dynamic sound masking based on monitoring biosignals and environmental noises
Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatuses, and systems for closed-loop sleep protection and/or sleep regulation. According to an aspect, sleep disturbing noises are predicted and a biosignal parameter is measured to dynamically mask predicted disturbing environmental noises in the sleeping environment with active attenuation. Environmental noises in a sleeping environment of a subject are detected, input, or predicted based on historical data of the sleeping environment collected over a period of time. The biosignal parameter is used to determine sleep physiology of a subject. Based on the environmental noises in the sleeping environment and the determined sleep physiology, the noises are predicted to be disturbing or non-disturbing noises. For predicted disturbing noises, one or more actions are taken to regulate sleep and avoid sleep disruption by using sound masking prior to or concurrently with the occurrence of the predicted disturbing noises.
Portable calibration system for audio equipment and devices
A portable calibration system is disclosed that calibrates an audio equipment without using a dedicated sound level meter. The calibration system comprises a coupler configured to couple a transducer to an energy sensor, where an output of the transducer is provided to the energy sensor via the coupler, an analyzer module configured to receive information from the energy sensor regarding the output of the transducer, a processor, in the analyzer module, configured to process the information to provide a result of a calibration for the audio equipment with respect to expected results, and a display configured to display the result of the calibration.
Setup management for ear tip selection fitting process
A method performed by a programmed processor of an in-ear headphone that is to be worn by a user. The method obtains, over a wireless communication link and via a first wireless connection that uses an accessory profile, a first request, from an audio source device, to start a measurement process. In response to obtaining the request, the method 1) establishes, over the link, a second wireless connection that uses an audio distribution profile between the headphone and the source device, 2) obtains, via the second wireless connection, an audio signal for driving a speaker of the headphone to output sound, 3) responsive to the outputted sound, determining a fit parameter, and 4) transmitting the fit parameter to the source device via the first wireless connection.
