Dynamic equalization in a directional speaker array
10708691 · 2020-07-07 · ·

An electronic device that provides dynamic equalization in a directional speaker array is described. Based at least in part on audio content and an acoustic radiation pattern associated with a second electronic device, the electronic device may determine drive signals for a set of drivers. Then, the electronic device may adjust the drive signals for at least a subset of the set of drivers based at least in part on a distortion margin in at least the subset of the drivers, where the distortion margin is based at least in part on the drive signals, a distortion threshold of at least the subset of the drivers and a volume setting. Next, based at least in part on the adjusted drive signals, the electronic device may output, using the set of drivers, the sound corresponding to the audio content.

COMBINATION OF IMMERSIVE AND BINAURAL SOUND
20200196056 · 2020-06-18 ·

The present subject matter provides a technical solution to the technical problems facing sound localization by separating sounds and reproducing the separated sounds using a set of loudspeakers and a set of headphones. A general soundtrack that is meant to be experienced throughout the room would play through the loudspeakers, and specific sounds that are meant to be experienced near the listener would be played through a binaural representation in the headphones. The headphones may be selected to avoid occluding the ear, allowing sound produced at the loudspeakers to be heard clearly. This separation and reproduction of sounds using a combination of a loudspeaker and headphone provides a technical solution to the technical problem facing typical surround sound systems by localizing sounds for listeners in any location within a room. This improves reproduction accuracy of location-specific audio objects, including audio objects above or below a coplanar speaker configuration.

Audio Processing Apparatus and Method Therefor

An audio processing apparatus comprises a receiver (705) which receives audio data including audio components and render configuration data including audio transducer position data for a set of audio transducers (703). A renderer (707) generating audio transducer signals for the set of audio transducers from the audio data. The renderer (7010) is capable of rendering audio components in accordance with a plurality of rendering modes. A render controller (709) selects the rendering modes for the renderer (707) from the plurality of rendering modes based on the audio transducer position data. The renderer (707) can employ different rendering modes for different subsets of the set of audio transducers the render controller (709) can independently select rendering modes for each of the different subsets of the set of audio transducers (703). The render controller (709) can select the rendering mode for a first audio transducer of the set of audio transducers (703) in response to a position of the first audio transducer relative to a predetermined position for the audio transducer. The approach may provide improved adaptation, e.g. to scenarios where most speakers are at desired positions whereas a subset deviate from the desired position(s).

A modular auditory low frequency sound reproduction and vibration generating speaker enclosure platform system for use to support a seating apparatus includes a main housing having a top wall, a bottom wall, a front wall, a rear wall, and a pair of side walls forming an internal chamber, a subwoofer speaker coupled to the main housing, an amplifier electrically coupled to the subwoofer, and a plurality of reflex ports coupled to the front wall of the main housing. The top wall of the main housing is designed to support the seating apparatus thereon. The amplifier is designed to activate the subwoofer to generate the sound pressure waves that project from the speaker to the seating apparatus and throughout the main housing. The generated sound pressure waves transferred along the top wall of the main housing delivers tremulous movement to the seating apparatus situated thereon.

Sound system for vehicle

A sound system for a vehicle including an engine and an audio device for an internal space of a cabin as sound sources disposed at given positions of the vehicle is provided which includes an engine sound localizer configured to localize a first sound generated by the engine to cause a vehicle driver inside the cabin to hear the first sound from a first position, and change the first position, and a traveling state detector configured to detect a traveling state of the vehicle. The engine sound localizer normally sets the first position at a default position and, when a given traveling state is detected by the traveling state detector, changes the first position to a specific position at which the vehicle driver is able to recognize the engine sound more clearly than at the default position.

Audio system

Various embodiments provide for an audio system and methods for facilitating a group-listening user experience. A first audio device and a second audio device may each include at least one speaker. The first audio device and the second audio device may be selectively coupled to each other via one or more coupling devices. In such embodiments, the respective speaker or speakers of each of the first and second audio devices may be configured to direct sound into the at least partial acoustic chamber formed by the first and second audio devices. The at least partial acoustic chamber may be configured to have a shape that is suitable for mixing, combining, blending, acoustically amplifying, and/or directing the sound from the speakers of the first and second audio devices in a direction that is away from the audio system.
