Device for determination of a CO2 partial pressure value on a blood side of an oxygenator having an oxygenator with a blood side, a gas side and a semipermeable membrane, wherein the membrane separates the blood side from the gas side, the gas side has an inlet and an outlet and, during operation of the oxygenator, a gas flow flows into the inlet to the outlet at a flow rate. The device also has a first sensor configured to measure CO2 partial pressure values of the gas side and a control unit configured to process the measured CO2 partial pressure values of the gas side and to determine a CO2 partial pressure value on the blood side based on the measured CO2 partial pressure values of the gas side. The control unit determines the CO2 partial pressure value on the blood side during operation of the oxygenator.

UNIVERSAL HOLDER SYSTEM

A holder system capable of mounting at least one medical device component to a control console support includes a triplex holder arm configured to connect to and support at least one medical device component; a receiver or receiver arm assembly configured to connect to the triplex holder arm, wherein the receiver is attached to the control console support to mount the triplex holder arm and the at least one medical device component on the control console support; and a locking assembly configured to releasably connect the triplex holder arm to the receiver or receiver arm assembly.

Disclosed is a blood oxygenator for a premature fetus comprising a housing defining a cavity therein, wherein the housing comprises a blood inlet, a blood outlet, a gas inlet, and a gas outlet; and a gas exchanger disposed within the cavity, wherein the gas exchanger comprises a plurality of hollow fibers arranged in a pattern allowing blood to flow past the hollow fibers when in contact with the hollow fibers, wherein the hollow fibers comprise a receiving end in communication with the gas inlet for receiving a sweep gas and an emitting end in communication with the gas outlet from which the sweep gas exits, wherein the oxygenator is designed to rely on the fetal heart as sole blood pump.

CANNULA SYSTEM INCLUDING VARIABLE SHAPE TIP

A cannula system for cannulating a blood vessel includes a cannula having a distal end and a proximal end. The cannula defines a cannula lumen. The cannula system also includes a tip on the distal end of the cannula. The tip defines a tip lumen connected to the cannula lumen. The tip is variable between a first shape and a second shape. The first shape has a first width sized to fit in a lumen of the blood vessel. The second shape has a second width larger than the first width and sized to engage an inner surface of the blood vessel defining the lumen and secure the tip in the lumen of the blood vessel.

BIFURCATED HUB

There is provided an introducer system for percutaneously delivering a first and a second medical device to a patient. The system may comprise an introducer sheath having a longitudinal axis and a lumen formed therein. The system may also comprise a bifurcated hub coupled to a proximal end of the sheath. The hub may comprise a first arm having a first lumen and a first hemostasis valve for the passage of the first medical device. The hub may also comprise a second arm coupled to the first arm and having a second lumen and a second hemostasis valve for the passage of the second medical device. Further, the hub may comprise a connection port such that the first lumen and the second lumen are in communication with the lumen of the introducer sheath for the passage of at least one of the first and second medical devices through the introducer sheath for delivery to the patient.

An oxygenator having a plurality of porous hollow fiber membranes for gas exchange to treat blood is manufactured by dissolving a silicone compound in an organic solvent having a surface tension of less than 70 dyn/cm to prepare a coating solution, and bringing an inner surface of the hollow fiber membranes into contact with the coating solution under a negative pressure of 50 hPa or more and 150 hPa or less to form a silicone compound-containing coating layer on the inner surface. An antithrombotic polymer compound-containing coat can be provided directly on an outer surface of the hollow fiber membranes.

COMBINED BLOOD PUMP AND OXYGENATOR SYSTEM AND RELATED METHODS

A blood pump-oxygenator system comprises at least one blood pump, an oxygenator, inflow and outflow cannulas, connected to form a closed series circuit operable as a cardiopulmonary bypass system for extracorporeal processing of the patient's blood. The blood pump conveys blood through the circuit from the patient into the inflow cannula, through the oxygenator and out of the outflow cannula back into the patient. A manifold is connected between the inflow and outflow cannulas so blood passes through the manifold, wherein the manifold accommodates the blood pump and the oxygenator to form a recirculation loop configured to recirculate at least part of the blood in the circuit so the blood passes over the oxygenator multiple times. An extra blood pump is positioned at the outflow cannula to deliver a set volume to the patient, controllable independently from the blood pump that circulates the blood in the manifold including the oxygenator.
