Eyewear with parametric audio unit
Eyewear for outputting audio information to the wearer include an eyewear temple, which has at least one loudspeaker. The eyewear temple is configured for placement on an ear of the wearer and spaced apart from an ear opening of the wearer's ear so that the sound waves generated by the loudspeaker are transmitted over the surroundings to the spaced ear opening. The loudspeaker is an ultrasonic loudspeaker. The eyewear has a parametric audio unit that includes the ultrasonic loudspeaker and configured to generate an audible sound beam directed at the ear.
AN AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT FOR A PARAMETRIC TRANSDUCER AND A RELATED AUDIO DEVICE
An amplifier circuit for a parametric transducer, comprising: a signal processor for processing an input signal into first and second signals; and at least a pair of output stages arranged to respectively receive the first and second signals for generating amplified first and second signals respectively, which are provided to operate the parametric transducer. The input, first and second signals are arranged with a substantially similar frequency to cause a switching frequency of the amplifier circuit to be matched to a carrier frequency of the parametric transducer. A related audio device is also disclosed.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR GENERATING SPATIAL SOUND USING ULTRASOUND
A novel system and method for spatial sound generation is disclosed. A system and method for generating bodiless mid-air speakers includes the steps of: generating a modulated signal by modulating an ultrasonic carrier signal with an audio signal, determining a phase delay value for each ultrasonic transducer of an array of ultrasonic transducers with respect to one or more focal points, and driving each such ultrasonic transducer with the modulated signal in accordance with the phase delay value determined for each ultrasonic transducer to generate audible sound at the one or more focal points.
Adaptive equalization for an ultrasonic audio system
An ultrasonic audio system includes adaptive equalization techniques configured to adjust the overall output of the ultrasonic audio system. This can be done by adjusting the equalization of the electronic audio signal representing the audio content being reproduced by the ultrasonic audio system. For example, in various embodiments, systems and methods can be implemented to increase the gain of higher frequency portions of the electronic audio signal while making a corresponding decrease in the amount of gain at the lower frequency portions of the same signal.
Systems and methods for positioning a user of a hands-free intercommunication system
A hands-free intercom may include a user-tracking sensor, a directional microphone, a directional sound emitter, a display device, and/or a communication interface. The user-tracking sensor may determine a location of a user so the directional microphone can measure vocal emissions by the user and the directional sound emitter can deliver audio to the user. The hands-free intercom may induce the user to move to a desired location and/or to stay within a connectivity area. The hands-free intercom may also or instead induce the user to face in a desired orientation. The directional sound emitter and/or the display device may induce the user by explicitly indicating the desired location, by adjusting an apparent source of the audio or video, by changing quality of delivered audio or video based on user position, by producing irritating audio or video, and/or the like.
DIGITAL MICROPHONES
This application relates to methods and apparatus for digital microphones. Disclosed is a digital microphone apparatus (300) for outputting a digital output signal (DATA) at a sample rate defined by a received clock signal (CLK). The apparatus includes a band splitter (302) configured to receive a microphone signal (S.sub.MD) indicative of an output of a microphone transducer and split said microphone signal into first signal path (S.sub.P1) for frequencies in a first band and a second signal path (S.sub.P2) for frequencies in a second band, the frequencies of the second band being higher than the frequencies in the first band. A modulation block (304) is configured to operate on the second signal path to apply a selective gain modulation to signals in the second signal path.
Hybrid audio delivery system and method therefor
Methods and systems to produce audio output signals from audio input signals. In one embodiment, a first portion of the audio input signals can be pre-processed, with the output used to modulate ultrasonic carrier signals, thereby producing modulated ultrasonic signals. The modulated ultrasonic signals can be transformed into a first portion of the audio output signals, which is directional. Based on a second portion of the audio input signals, a standard audio speaker can output a second portion of the audio output signals. Another embodiment further produces distortion compensated signals based on the pre-processed signals. The distortion compensated signals can be subtracted from the second portion of the audio input signals to generate inputs for the standard audio speaker to output the second portion of the audio output signals. In yet another embodiment, noise can be added during pre-processing of the first portion of the audio input signals.
Sound reproduction device
Provided is a sound reproduction device including a loudspeaker and a superdirective speaker. The loudspeaker is configured so that a sound pressure of audible sound produced therefrom decreases as the sound travels farther away from the loudspeaker. The superdirective speaker is configured so that a sound pressure of audible sound produced therefrom has a peak at a predetermined distance from the superdirective speaker, and is configured to use an ultrasonic wave as a carrier wave. The loudspeaker and the superdirective speaker are positioned such that a loudspeaker sound field of the audible sound produced from the loudspeaker and a superdirective speaker sound field of the audible sound produced from the superdirective speaker overlap with each other at a position of a listener.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AN ULTRASONIC EMITTER SYSTEM FLOOR AUDIO UNIT
Methods and systems are provided for audio devices with enhanced directional operations. In a system that includes one or more audio output components, positioning information associated with at least a part of a user's body maybe determined, the positioning information including at least orientation related information. The one or more audio output components may be controlled based on the determined positioning information, with the determined positioning information corresponding to a positional nature of the user within a three-dimensional space around the user, and where the controlling includes providing a three-dimensional audio environment according to the user.
PACKAGE WAVEGUIDE FOR ACOUSTIC SENSOR WITH ELECTRONIC DELAY COMPENSATION
A system and method use an array of ultrasonic transducers to emit and receive sound in a phased array fashion by using acoustic waveguides to achieve a desired acoustic radiation and reception pattern. A chip package attached to an acoustic transducer array includes acoustic waveguides coupled to acoustic ports. Each waveguide is coupled between a corresponding acoustic transducer and a corresponding acoustic port. A spacing of a pair of acoustic ports is different than a spacing of a corresponding pair of acoustic transducers.
