ULTRASONIC WAVE GENERATION DEVICE
20210408363 · 2021-12-30 ·

A low-profile ultrasonic wave generation device is provided that includes a drive unit having a piezoelectric member and an electrode formed on a surface of the piezoelectric member. The drive unit as a whole vibrates flexurally. The connection member is connected to a portion of the drive unit that includes a point of maximum displacement of the drive unit when the drive unit is subjected to flexural vibration. The vibrating unit is connected to the connection member. The vibrating unit vibrates due to the flexural vibration of the drive unit being transmitted by the connection member and thereby generates ultrasonic waves.

AUDIO SYSTEM FOR ARTIFICIAL REALITY APPLICATIONS

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an audio system for artificial reality applications. One or more transducers of the audio system output, in accordance with audio instructions, one or more ultrasonic pressure waves simulating a virtual audio source near an ear of a user of the headset. A controller of the audio system generates the audio instructions such that the one or more ultrasonic pressure waves form at least a portion of audio content for presentation to the user. An array of microphones of the audio system detects audio signals in a local area. A deep neural network of the audio system processes the detected audio signals to generate enhanced audio content, and the one or more transducers present the enhanced audio content to a user.

An audio reproduction apparatus includes an audio device in which a plurality of layer structures is formed by folding a thin film material having a capacitance layer sandwiched between a first electrode layer and a second electrode layer a plurality of times, and a vibrated portion which is bendable and to which one face of the audio device is fixed.

Algorithm Improvements in a Haptic System

A system providing various improved processing techniques for haptic feedback is described. An acoustic field is defined by one or more control points in a space within which the acoustic field may exist. Each control point is assigned an amplitude value equating to a desired amplitude of the acoustic field at the control point. Transducers are then controlled to create an acoustic field exhibiting the desired amplitude at each of the control points. When human skin interacts with the acoustic field, vibrations of the skin are interpreted by mechanoreceptors being excited and sending signals to the brain via the nervous system. Improved processing techniques allow for more efficient real-world operation.

SELF-CALIBRATING ULTRASONIC REMOVAL OF ECTOPARASITES FROM FISH

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for self-calibrating ultrasonic removal of sea lice. In some implementations, a method includes generating, by transducers distributed in a sea lice treatment station, a first set of ultrasonic signals, detecting a second set of ultrasonic signals in response to propagation of the first set of ultrasonic signals through water, determining propagation parameters of the sea lice treatment station based on the second set of ultrasonic signals that were detected, obtaining an image of a sea louse on a fish in the sea lice treatment station, determining, from the image, a location of the sea louse in the sea lice treatment station, and generating a third set of ultrasonic signals that focuses energy at the sea louse.

TARGETED BEAMFORMING COMMUNICATION FOR REMOTE VEHICLE OPERATORS AND USERS

A remote-assist system programmed for vehicle parking assist or other remote vehicle operation features includes a selective ultrasonic beamforming Amplitude Modulated (AM) system configured and/or programmed to transmit audible alerts to a primary user via ultrasonic beamforming AM. The system localizes a mobile device that is being used by the primary user to initiate the system. The system localizes the primary user, and others in the vicinity, and determines others that may be associated with the vehicle and primary user. The system defines and reshapes a target zone to include only those associated with the primary user and the vehicle. The system electronically or mechanically steers a transducer array to steer an ultrasonic beam with an AM audio alert to the target zone, where the message is audible only to those within the target zone.

MICROPHONE ARRAY ONBOARD AIRCRAFT TO DETERMINE CREW/PASSENGER LOCATION AND TO STEER A TRANSDUCER BEAM PATTERN TO THAT LOCATION

Audio content is controllably directed to or from an aircraft occupant, such as the pilot or a passenger using a microphone array of at least two transducers, positioned onboard an aircraft to pick up utterances of the aircraft occupant. An electronically steerable transducer array coupled to an onboard an aircraft audio system, such as an avionics communication system or in-flight entertainment system supplies audio content to the aircraft occupant. A signal processor coupled to the microphone array processes utterances sensed by the transducers using a time of arrival algorithm to determine an utterance originating direction. A controller circuit then supplies a pointing direction control signal to the steerable beamforming speaker array or microphone array based on the utterance originating direction to cause the steerable transducer array to direct the audio content in the direction of the sensed utterance and thereby direct the audio content to or from the aircraft occupant.

DIRECTED SOUND TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Systems and methods are provided herein for directing sound through a parametric speaker in connection with interpreting/translating messages in an open forum such that communications may be delivered and understood without the use of headphones. The directed sound may also be directed in connection with detecting auditory areas and targeting sound at the auditory regions of a subject.
