In ear hearing device with a housing enclosing acoustically coupled chambers
A hearing device includes an acoustic transducer having a membrane configured to generate sound waves, a housing enclosing a first chamber and a second chamber acoustically coupled by the membrane, a sound outlet configured to release sound waves from the first chamber into the ear canal, and an acoustic port acoustically coupling the second chamber to an ambient environment outside the ear canal.
Hearing device with optical sensor at spout
An in-ear hearing device includes a light source configured to emit light, a photodetector configured to detect the emitted light after the emitted light passes through tissue of a subject, a spout; an audio receiver configured to deliver a sound to the subject through the spout, and a dome configured to conform to a shape of a subject's ear canal when the hearing device is in the ear canal. An output of the light source and an input of the photodetector are separated by the dome, and the dome absorbs and/or reflects at least part of the emitted light. The photodetector may be a forward biased photodiode. The sensor device can be realized with power levels, circuitry components, and in package sizes, of hearing devices.
Avoidance of user discomfort due to pressure differences by vent valve, and associated systems and methods
Systems and methods are disclosed for avoidance of user discomfort due to pressure differences by vent valve. In one embodiment, a method for equalizing air pressure in ear canal includes sensing a pressure difference between a pressure in ear canal (P.sub.EC) and an ambient pressure (P.sub.AMB) by a sensor of a hearing device. Based on sensing the pressure difference, an active valve is set to a first position to open a vent through the hearing device or to a second position to close the vent through the hearing device.
Hearing aid for placement in a user's ear canal
The disclosure relates to a hearing aid for placement in an ear canal, the hearing aid having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end is inserted into the ear canal to face the tympanic membrane, the distal end is opposite. The hearing aid comprises a shell customized for the ear canal. The shell comprises an inner space configured for at least partly receiving a rechargeable battery, a charging arrangement, at least one microphone arrangement, and an integrated circuit. The hearing aid comprises a faceplate comprising an upper face and a lower face, the upper face being exposed at the distal end when the shell is placed in the user's ear canal. The faceplate is configured for closing the inner space, wherein the IC is arranged between the faceplate and the proximal end.
Antenna used in conjunction with the conductors for an audio transducer
A hearing assistance device to provide sound to the ear of a user, the device comprising a housing, hearing assistance electronics enclosed in the housing, an acoustic transducer adapted to be worn in the ear, a cable assembly adapted to connect the acoustic transducer to the hearing assistance electronics, a wireless communications receiver connected to the hearing assistance electronics, and an antenna comprising one or more conductors forming at least a portion of the cable assembly.
IN EAR HEARING DEVICE WITH A HOUSING ENCLOSING ACOUSTICALLY COUPLED CHAMBERS
An illustrative hearing device may be at least partially inserted into an ear canal and may include an acoustic transducer having a membrane configured to generate sound waves, a housing enclosing a first chamber and a second chamber acoustically coupled by the membrane, a sound outlet configured to release sound waves from the first chamber into the ear canal, an acoustic port acoustically coupling the second chamber to an ambient environment outside the ear canal, and a mechanical resonator configured to resonate with sound waves at a resonance frequency. The second chamber may be acoustically coupled to the mechanical resonator.
RETAINING CAP FOR A STANDARD EARPIECE AND STANDARD EARPIECE
A standard earpiece which is insertable in an ear canal in a direction of insertion has a corresponding retaining cap. The retaining cap is configured in such a way, in this case, that it equally satisfies the requirements for wearing comfort, a secure seating of the standard earpiece, and proper ventilation of the ear.
STANDARD ATTACHMENT FOR A STANDARD EARPIECE AND STANDARD EARPIECE
A standard attachment for a standard earpiece insertable into an ear canal in a direction of insertion, by which, compared to customary attachments, an improved adaptation of the corresponding standard earpiece to an ear canal is achieved, and therefore improved audio perception, and also improved wearing comfort of the respective hearing aid is ensured. The standard attachment contains a headpiece at one end and, adjoining the latter, a wing portion. The outer contour of the headpiece is configured to allow the headpiece to bear on the wall of the ear canal at several points or on several lines.
Encapsulated hearing device
The present invention relates to an encapulated hearing device (50), e.g. for long-term wear, in which an electronics module (10) is encapsulated into a thermoformed hull (30) by means of an appropriate adhesive (41). This thermoformed hull (30) acts as an improved barrier between the electronics module (10) and the environment of the inner ear, reducing the risk of moisture reaching electrical components.
Hearing device seal modules, modular hearing devices including the same and associated methods
A hearing device seal module in accordance with at least one of the present inventions includes a tubular seal carrier defining a lumen configured to receive a hearing device core and including a connector region and a resilient seal support region formed from resilient material, a seal carrier support connected to the seal carrier connector region of the tubular seal carrier, including a support tube defining a longitudinal axis and a lumen configured to permit movement of the hearing device core and a tool along the longitudinal axis, and having an open state and a closed state.
