The auditory neural interface device includes a receiver configured to receive sound signals, a processor operably connected to the receiver and configured to encode a received sound signal as a multi-channel neurostimulation signal, and a neurostimulation device operably connected to the processor and configured to apply the multi-channel neurostimulation signal to a neurostimulation electrode of the individual. The neurostimulation signal is configured to directly stimulate afferent sensory neurons of the central nervous system of the individual and thereby to elicit, for each channel of the neurostimulation signal, one or more non-auditory, preferably somatosensory, perceptions in a cortex area of the individual. Each channel of the neurostimulation signal is associated with a different non-auditory perception.
SYSTEM FOR CONFIGURING A HEARING DEVICE
A system is disclosed for configuring a hearing device. The system includes an audiogram processing component arranged to process image data indicative of an image of an audiogram associated with a person so as to produce audiogram data indicative of the audiogram, and a hearing device configuration component arranged to produce hearing device configuration data based on the audiogram data. The configuration data is indicative of configuration settings for a hearing device that will cause the hearing device to assist the hearing of the person.
Method and apparatus for channel selection in ear-to-ear communication in hearing devices
A pair of binaural hearing devices can dynamically assess and select a channel from a plurality of frequency channels suitable for ear-to-ear communication with each other. In various embodiments, the hearing aids can each initiate a channel assessment by calibrating a channel quality threshold and transmitting a packet including the channel quality threshold to the other hearing aid. The other hearing aid can then receive the packet, measure the quality parameter on the packet, and compare the measured value of the quality parameter to the received channel quality threshold to determine whether the channel is suitable for the ear-to-ear communication.
Adaptive solid hearing system according to environment change and noise change
A user is allowed to three-dimensionally recognize environment change and noise change corresponding to the sound directionality of the left and right sides through a control parameter that is set by analyzing an audio signal received from a first smart hearing device formed on one side and a second smart hearing device formed on an opposite side.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVING SPEECH INTELLIGIBILITY IN HEARING DEVICES USING REMOTE MICROPHONE
A hearing system includes a pair of first and second hearing devices wirelessly coupled to a remote device that includes a microphone. One or more gains can each be calculated as a function of a first microphone signal received from the first hearing device, a second microphone signal received from the second hearing device, and a remote microphone signal received from the remote device. The function can be designed to improve speech intelligibility in a noisy environment. The one or more gains are applied to the first and second microphone signals to produce output sounds by the first and second hearing devices.
