Wireless streaming of an audio signal to multiple audio receiver devices
09838829 · 2017-12-05 · ·

A method of streaming an audio signal from an audio transmission device to first and second audio receiver devices via a Bluetooth link using a protocol that requires an audio data packet to be retransmitted if a positive packet receipt is not received. The first audio receiver device is synchronized to the audio transmission device to enable the first audio receiver device to receive an audio signal stream from the audio transmission device, the second audio receiver device is synchronized to the audio transmission device to enable the second audio receiver device to eavesdrop the audio signal stream to the first audio receiver device. When a positive packet receipt acknowledgement is not transmitted from the first audio receiver device to the audio transmission device, the audio transmission device repeats transmission of that audio data packet irrespective of whether the packet has been correctly received by the first audio receiver device.

A method facilitates the ascertainment of parameter values of a hearing aid for a user-specific auditory situation. For that purpose, blog entries from a wearer of a hearing aid are evaluated in automated fashion and the evaluation is taken as a basis for determining adapted parameter values.

Method for setting up a short-range radio connection, and hearing device
11678130 · 2023-06-13 · ·

A method for setting up a short-range radio connection, in particular a Bluetooth connection, provides a connection between two devices, namely a hearing device and an additional device. The hearing device has a switch as an input element and a receiver as an output element. The additional device has an input element and an output element. A reciprocal authentication is performed by using a respective device to generate a character string and transmitting the character string to the other device. A check code is subsequently generated on both devices using both respective character strings and output to a user through the respective output element. The authentication is completed successfully and then a short-range radio connection is set up if a confirmation from the user that the check codes that have been output match, is received through the respective input element. A corresponding hearing device is also provided.

Enabling concurrent proprietary audio and Bluetooth low energy using enhanced LE link layer for hearing device
09832578 · 2017-11-28 · ·

A battery-powered mobile device allows concurrent wireless transception of control data via standard Bluetooth low energy (BLE) and proprietary audio streaming, using the same physical layer of the radio. Following each BLE connection event, an enhanced link layer clocks a remaining duration of the current idle time period. Requests provided to the enhanced link layer include time slot information for the proprietary audio bursts. The enhanced link layer determines, based on the time slot information, whether each requested burst can be completed during the remaining duration of the current idle time period, appropriately linking payload information of each packet with the BLE control data stack or with a proprietary audio stack, with the BLE control data having priority over the proprietary audio requests.
