ACOUSTIC OUTPUT DEVICE WITH ANTENNA
A BTE prosthetic device for use in a medical system or prosthesis comprises a connector configured to mechanically attach an auxiliary device of the system to the BTE prosthetic device. The connector is electrically connected to a transceiver of the BTE prosthetic device. The connector operates as an electromagnetic antenna for transmitting and/or receiving signals between the BTE prosthetic and other components of the medical system.
ACTIVATING A MODE OF A HEARING DEVICE
The disclosed technology generally relates to operation modes for hearing devices. In some implementations, the disclosed technology includes a hearing device entering into and operating in an airplane mode or a mode of operation that limits communication with a select frequency or select group of frequencies. To enter a mode of operation, a user may use two inputs for the hearing device. For example, one input may be a battery closing and another input may include the pushing of a button on a device (e.g., on the hearing device or a mobile device in communication with the hearing device).
HEARING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM AND METHOD
A hearing assistance system, having first and second hearing devices worn at respective ears of a user, each hearing device having a BLUETOOTH® interface for wireless reception from an external audio source device, the hearing devices being adapted to establish a binaural data link between each other, wherein the hearing devices are adapted to define first and second sets of BLUETOOTH® profiles assigned to the first and second hearing devices respectively, with the first set and the second set differing by at least one profile, wherein the first devices are adapted to establish a BLUETOOTH® connection to an external device and to advertise their BLUETOOTH® profile to the external device, wherein the hearing devices are adapted to modify, by data exchange via the binaural link, the first and second set of BLUETOOTH® profiles by moving at least one of the profiles from one of the sets to the other set.
ADAPTIVE AND INTERACTIVE EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR PEOPLE WITH HEARING LOSS AND HEARING HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AND RELATED METHODS
A system, device, and wireless computer technology-implemented method for providing hearing healthcare education and communication for a patient, his/her communication partner, and a hearing care provider. The system provides the patient at least one educational and experiential module and a method for assessing the patient's comprehension of the module's lessons. The system further provides the patient with a method to select personal hearing aid and communication goals; a method to evaluate his/her progress on achieving each personal goal; and a method to report his/her hearing experiences. The system further provides a method to compare data reported by the patient to personalized thresholds. When one or more of the patient's reports do not meet the thresholds, the system sends automated alerts to the hearing care provider to encourage prompt remedial action and sends automated reminders to the patient to improve the patient's ability to achieve his/her personal goals.
HEARING AID SYSTEM WITH DIFFERENTIAL GAIN
A hearing aid and related systems and methods are disclosed. In one implementation, a hearing aid system may include a wearable camera; a microphone; and a processor. The processor may be programmed to receive images captured by the camera; receive audio signals representative of sounds received by the at least one microphone; determine a look direction of the user based on analysis of the images; determine an amplitude of a first audio signal associated with an individual or object in a region associated with the look direction of the user; determine an amplitude of a second audio signal from a region other than the look direction of the user; adjust the second amplitude in accordance with the first amplitude; and cause transmission of the second audio signal at the adjusted amplitude to a hearing interface device configured to provide sound to an ear of the user.
POWER OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR LOW POWER DEVICES
An apparatus includes a receiver and a controller. The receiver receives a wireless stream with ongoing bursts that are transmitted at recurring periodic intervals. Each burst comprising one or more data packets. The controller controls the receiver to, when the wireless stream is lost for at least a specified quantity of intervals, search for the bursts during each interval, at a successive one of multiple equally-spaced sub-intervals of each interval.
Method of testing microphone performance of a hearing aid system and a hearing aid system
A method (400) of testing microphone performance of a hearing aid system, based on a determined correlation measure between a first and a second microphone signal, as well as a hearing aid system adapted to carry out such a method.
Devices and methods for collecting acoustic data
A device includes a network interface to communicate with a communication network and a microphone to convert sounds into an electrical signal. The device further includes a processor coupled to the microphone and the network interface. The processor is configured to process the electrical signal to generate acoustic data based on the electrical signal and to provide the acoustic data to the network interface for transmission to a data storage device.
Method for transmitting a hearing aid setting data set from a first hearing aid to a second hearing aid, hearing aid system, and hearing aid
A method transmits a hearing aid setting data set from a first hearing aid to a second hearing aid. By use of an Internet-capable third device, a translation instruction for translating hearing aid setting data contained in the hearing aid setting data set from a platform of the first hearing aid to a platform of the second hearing aid is retrieved from a database. The translation instruction is transmitted to the first or the second hearing aid or to a local fourth device. By the Internet-capable third device, an instruction for transmitting the hearing aid setting data set is output and the hearing aid setting data set is transmitted locally and while bypassing the Internet or a computer network from the first to the second hearing aid. The hearing aid setting data contained in the hearing aid setting data set are translated in the first or the second hearing aid or in the fourth device without access to the Internet or the computer network to the platform of the second hearing aid.
METHOD FOR SETTING UP A SHORT-RANGE RADIO CONNECTION, AND HEARING DEVICE
A method for setting up a short-range radio connection, in particular a Bluetooth connection, provides a connection between two devices, namely a hearing device and an additional device. The hearing device has a switch as an input element and a receiver as an output element. The additional device has an input element and an output element. A reciprocal authentication is performed by using a respective device to generate a character string and transmitting the character string to the other device. A check code is subsequently generated on both devices using both respective character strings and output to a user through the respective output element. The authentication is completed successfully and then a short-range radio connection is set up if a confirmation from the user that the check codes that have been output match, is received through the respective input element. A corresponding hearing device is also provided.
