NOISE DETECTOR AND SOUND SIGNAL OUTPUT DEVICE
A noise detector and a sound signal output device are provided that can detect high accuracy various types of noise including composite noise. The noise detector (30) for detecting noise contained in an input signal (s1) includes a noise discrimination portion having a plurality of discrimination portions to which an input signal is input and a noise determination portion (35) determining noise based on individual discrimination results of the plurality of discrimination portions. The noise discrimination portion includes at least two of a frequency component discrimination portion (32) discriminating the presence or absence of noise based on a frequency component of the input signal, a temporal change discrimination portion (33) discriminating the presence or absence of noise based on a temporal change of the input signal and a high-frequency component discrimination portion (34) discriminating the presence or absence of noise based on a high-frequency component of the input signal The noise determination portion determines noise based on individual discrimination results of the plurality of discrimination portions.
System and method for dynamically managing sound in a gaming environment
A gaming system is configured for dynamic and location-specific sound management in distributed gaming environments. A mobile gaming device executes a gaming application in undefined areas such as airports or restaurants. Various fixed gaming stations are disposed across gaming zones in defined gaming areas such as casino floors. A server communicates with the mobile device and gaming stations and samples ambient sounds with respect to each, and identifies desired sound signatures with respect to one or more of the gaming zones, such as ambient sounds for an associated gaming application, a jackpot or equivalent hot spot in the gaming environment, etc. The mobile device is directed to emit the ambient sounds associated with the identified desired sound signatures for the gaming zone in the defined area. The server may further direct sound emitters associated with the mobile device to locally suppress ambient sounds other than identified zone-specific exception sound signatures.
WIRELESS EXCHANGE OF DATA BETWEEN DEVICES IN LIVE EVENTS
A method for wireless data exchange between devices in live events is presented. A method for exploring data of multiple devices in order to get information on the acoustic paths in different locations of venues is also provided. A method of exploring the microphones of sound-capturing devices of live event's audience is also presented.
Dynamic player selection for audio signal processing
A set of signal measures is received, wherein each signal measure in the set of signal measures corresponds to a respective audio signal received by a device in a media playback system which is processed based on a first set of audio processing algorithms. A plurality of signal measures is identified in the set of signal measures. Audio signals corresponding to the identified plurality of signal measures are processed by one or more devices in the media playback system to improve a signal measure of each of the audio signals. The audio signals are processed based on a second set of audio processing algorithms. The processed audio signals are then combined into a combined audio signal.
Combined voice recognition, hands-free telephony and in-car communication
A multi-mode speech communication system is described that has different operating modes for different speech applications. A signal processing module is in communication with the speech applications and includes an input processing module and an output processing module. The input processing module processes microphone input signals to produce a set user input signals for each speech application that are limited to currently active system users for that speech application. The output processing module processes application output communications from the speech applications to produce loudspeaker output signals to the system users, wherein for each different speech application, the loudspeaker output signals are directed only to system users currently active in that speech application.
PROCESSING AUDIO DATA TO COMPENSATE FOR PARTIAL HEARING LOSS OR AN ADVERSE HEARING ENVIRONMENT
Methods a provided for improving an audio scene for people suffering from hearing loss or for adverse hearing environments. Audio objects may be prioritized. In some implementations, audio objects that correspond to dialogue may be assigned to a highest priority level. Other implementations may involve assigning the highest priority to other types of audio objects, such as audio objects that correspond to events. During a process of dynamic range compression, higher-priority objects may be boosted more, or cut less, than lower-priority objects. Some lower-priority audio objects may fall below the threshold of human hearing, in which case the audio objects may be dropped and not rendered.
Methods, systems, and media for identifying a plurality of sets of coordinates for a plurality of devices
Methods, systems, and media for identifying a plurality of sets of coordinates for a plurality of devices are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: identifying each device in a plurality of devices associated with a user account; instructing the plurality of devices to perform an audio sequence; receiving a plurality of transit times from the plurality of devices; determining a plurality of distances based on the plurality of transit times; determining a plurality of sets of coordinates based on the plurality of distances; associating to each of the plurality of devices a corresponding unique one of the plurality of sets of coordinates; and causing at least one of the plurality of devices to play spatial audio determined from the plurality of sets of coordinates.
VEHICLE SOUND PROCESSING SYSTEM
A sound system for a vehicle includes a plurality of microphones to detect sounds emanating from outside of the vehicle. A sound processor is operable to process microphone output signals of the microphones to identify a source of at least some sounds detected by the microphones. The sound processor processes microphone output signals to identify a sound of interest outside of the vehicle, which includes at least one of (i) a siren of an emergency vehicle and (ii) a horn of another vehicle. Responsive to identification by the sound processor of the sound of interest, a plurality of speakers disposed in the cabin of the vehicle generate sound representative of the identified sound of interest. While the speakers are generating sound representative of the identified sound of interest, sounds generated by the speakers based on audio signals from other sound systems in the vehicle are diminished.
SPEECH INTELLIGIBILITY ENHANCEMENT SYSTEM
A speech intelligibility system. Embodiments comprise a talker unit, a listener unit and an earpiece. The talker unit includes a microphone to receive audible speech content and to produce electrical signals representative of the speech content, and a transmitter coupled to the microphone to produce wireless transmissions containing the speech content. The listener unit includes a receiver to receive the wireless transmissions and to produce electrical signals representative of the speech content. At least one of the talker unit and the listener unit includes an amplifier to amplify spectral components of the speech content within a frequency range having a lower end between about 800 Hz and 1,700 Hz and an upper end between about 7,000 Hz and 11,000 Hz. The earpiece is coupled to the listener unit and includes a speaker to produce audible speech content having the amplified spectral components and a tube to direct the audible speech content from the speaker toward a user's ear canal.
