STIFFENING PLATE FOR ACOUSTIC MEMBRANE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SAME

A method of thinning a multilayer laminate material used for a membrane stiffening plate is provided to obtain a membrane stiffening plate having a thickness less than currently known in the art. The method provides for a significant reduction in the thickness of a membrane stiffening plate and provides for a mechanism to tune the cut-off frequency of a loudspeaker on which the membrane stiffening plate is used.

PASSIVE RADIATOR STRUCTURE
20170085980 · 2017-03-23 ·

A passive radiator structure includes an integrally formed diaphragm structure and a surround suspension. The diaphragm structure includes a diaphragm, a frame, and a web-like spider having a plurality of suspension arms integrally extended to between the diaphragm and the frame. The surround suspension has a radially inner gluing edge adhered to a radially inner location of the diaphragm structure around the diaphragm, and a radially outer gluing edge adhered to a radially outer location of the diaphragm structure around the frame. The surround suspension and the web-like spider of the diaphragm structure form two suspension elements for stably supporting the diaphragm, enabling minimized irregular shaking and reduced weight of the diaphragm, as well as reduced sound distortion, increased compliance and upgraded efficiency of the passive radiator structure.

FABRICATING AN INTEGRATED LOUDSPEAKER PISTON AND SUSPENSION

A diaphragm and suspension for an electroacoustic transducer are formed by depositing a layer of compliant material on a first surface of a solid substrate and removing material from a second surface of the solid substrate. The removal leaves a block of substrate material suspended within an inner perimeter of an outer support ring of the substrate material by the compliant material, the block providing the diaphragm.

SPEAKERS

A speaker includes a shell, a diaphragm, and a sliding connection portion. The shell includes a cavity. The diaphragm is accommodated within the cavity and separates the cavity to form at least two sub-cavities. The diaphragm is driven by an electrical signal to vibrate to generate sound. The sliding connection portion is configured to connect an edge of the diaphragm to an inner wall of the cavity. The sliding connection portion allows the edge of the diaphragm to slide relative to the inner wall of the shell. Therefore, the diaphragm can move (slide) relative to the inner wall of the shell. In other words, the diaphragm can make a piston-like movement relative to the inner wall of the shell, which allows the diaphragm to generate a greater displacement, push more air, and thereby improving the performance of the speaker, especially the sensitivity of the speaker at a low frequency range.

Speaker Spider Having Varying Corrugation Geometry

Embodiments for a speaker spider of a loudspeaker are provided. The speaker spider may include a central opening and a plurality of concentric corrugations. Dimensions of the speaker spider may substantially homogenize stress on the speaker spiders during operation of the loud speaker. Dimensions of such a speaker spider that substantially homogenizes stress on the speaker spider during operation may involve one or more of (i) corrugations having azimuthally varying depths, (ii) corrugations having azimuthally varying crest and/or trough curvature radii, and (iii) corrugations having angularly varying distances from the central opening of the speaker spider, among other possibilities.
