Embodiments of the invention provide apparatus, systems and method for introducing fluids into a body cavity for treatment. One embodiment provides an apparatus for treating a patient including an access device for insertion into the peritoneal cavity of the patient including an infusion member in a lumen of the access device. An oxygenated solution may be infused and removed into and out of the cavity via the infusion member.

CATHETERS AND INTERLOCKING RESTRAINT SYSTEMS THEREFOR

An interactive restraint system for securing catheters in position following installation in a human or animal patient and preventing movement or unplanned removal thereof in response to the application of significant forces in any direction thereto, be they longitudinal, torsional/rotational or bending. The system includes a retention collar which can be secured to any catheter and releasably interacts with a securing device attached to a patient to ensure proper positioning of the catheter. The restraint system includes a unique universal, after-market applied retention collar readily adapted for use in hospital and field emergency situations to engage any catheter and facilitate ease of application and positioning under all conditions.

IMPLANTABLE CATHETER

Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed toward apparatuses, systems, and methods that are configured to be implanted within a patient. The apparatuses, systems, and methods may include a catheter configured to implant within the intraperitoneal space of the patient, an interior flow lumen, and at least one opening connected to the interior flow lumen for therapeutic agent delivery.

Peritoneal dialysis transfer set with antimicrobial properties

The disclosure provides a method for preventing infection and microbial ingress in medical device connections between peritoneal dialysis transfer sets and peritoneal dialysis catheters. A peritoneal dialysis transfer set includes a male connector with a distal tip and a recess at the distal tip configured to deliver and confine an antimicrobial composition into solution within a cavity formed by the recess. The surface of the recess includes an antimicrobial composition. In certain implementations the antimicrobial composition contains chlorhexidine acetate.

PERITONEAL TROCAR APPARATUS AND SYSTEM

A trocar for peritoneal dialysis is disclosed herein. An example trocar includes a conduit having two or more parallel lumens and a head connected to a first end of the conduit. The head includes two (or more) parallel lumens that are aligned respectively with the parallel conduit lumens and includes at least one of a gasket or a seal for each lumen. The trocar also includes a coupler connected to the head. The coupler includes two (or more) parallel lumens that are aligned respectively with the parallel lumens of the head. The coupler includes a coupling mechanism for each lumen for securing surgical tools in place after insertion into a patient. The trocar may also include an obturator having a shaft that is removably inserted through the coupler, head, and conduit to protrude from a second end of the conduit.

A system includes a flexible catheter having at least one lumen, an adapter having an inlet, an outlet, at least one pump, and at least one channel in communication with the at least one lumen, the at least one pump being configured and arranged to move a fluid through the at least one lumen.

FORMULATIONS AND METHODS FOR DIRECT SODIUM REMOVAL IN PATIENTS HAVING SEVERE RENAL DYSFUNCTION

A direct sodium removal (“DSR”) infusate regimen and methods of use are provided for removing sodium and reducing fluid overload in patients with severe renal dysfunction and/or heart failure, in which a patient has at least a first DSR session with a first DSR infusate having no or low sodium that is instilled into a patient's peritoneal cavity for a first dwell period to cause sodium and excess fluid to migrate to the patient's peritoneal cavity, and thereafter, the patient may undergo conventional dialysis to rebalance the patient's fluid and sodium levels.

ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION DELIVERY AND MONITORING SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR PREVENTING, REDUCING AND/OR ELIMINATING CATHETER-RELATED INFECTIONS DURING INSTITUTIONAL OR IN-HOME USE
