DIALYSIS CATHETER INCLUDING PRESSURE AND IMPEDANCE SENSORS
In examples described herein, a catheter configured to deliver dialysate and extract an effluent fluid from a peritoneal cavity of a patient includes at least two sensors configured and positioned to generate respective signals indicative of one or more parameters related to PD treatment provided to the patient. The sensors can include, for example, a pressure sensor configured to generate a pressure signal indicative of a pressure of a fluid within a lumen of the catheter or external to the catheter and an impedance sensor configured to generate an impedance signal indicative of an impedance of a fluid within the lumen of the catheter or external to the catheter. A parameter related to PD treatment can include, for example, a catheter status or a peritoneal cavity status of the patient.
BIFURCATED PERITONEAL CATHETER
The bifurcated peritoneal catheter serves as a peritoneal dialysis device for patients with kidney failure. The catheter includes a primary tube with two porous internal tubes extending therefrom at a small acute angle to one another. The two internal tubes provide a solution to the potential problem of blockage in a single catheter tube, greatly reducing the potential need for surgery to remove and replace such a single catheter tube. The bifurcated peritoneal catheter includes a subcutaneous cuff, and can include a second deep cuff in the abdominal wall. Either or both of the internal tubes can be straight, curved or coiled, with the curvatures and coils oriented in the same direction, toward one another, or away from one another.
Systems and methods for performing dialysis
A regenerative peritoneal dialysis system includes a dialysis fluid loop; a filter located in the dialysis fluid loop, a first portion of the dialysis fluid sent to the filter rejected by the filter and returned upstream of the filter, a second portion of the dialysis fluid sent to the filter forming permeate, the permeate being rich in urea; and a urea removing apparatus located in the dialysis fluid loop downstream from the filter to receive the permeate and absorb urea from the permeate.
DEPLOYING SPLIT-TIP HEMODIALYSIS CATHETER IN A RIGHT ATRIUM
A split-tip catheter and methods for deploying a split-tip catheter in a right atrium are provided. The catheter is configured with a distal potion including a first and a second distal end regions elastically divergable from alignment along a splitting plane to regain a relaxed configuration. The first distal end region terminates in a first tip having a first forward opening, and the second distal end region terminates in a second tip having a second forward opening. Catheter deployment may include directing the first forward opening generally towards an anterior right atrium wall portion and applying the first forward opening to withdraw blood from the right atrium.
UNIT FOR A MECHANICAL CONNECTING DEVICE FOR MEDICAL PURPOSES, PARTICULARLY FOR PERITONEAL DIALYSIS
The invention relates to a unit (1) for an apparatus (2) for connecting and disconnecting a tubular fitting (24) to a connector (14), comprising a body (16) having:—a first receptacle (18) and a second receptacle (20), wherein each of said receptacles is configured for holding an end cap (22) of the tubular fitting (24), and—a connector holder (26) configured for accommodating insertion of the connector (14); wherein the unit (1) comprises a capsule (290) that is configured to be connected to said body (16) in a releasable fashion, wherein said capsule (290) comprises said second receptacle (20).
Multi-lumen tube assemblies for medical fluid pumping systems
An assembly comprises a manifold configured to couple to a medical fluid cassette and a multi-lumen tube comprising a plurality of lumens within an outer wall of the multi-lumen tube. The manifold has a plurality of fluid connection ports and can be connected to the multi-lumen tube (e.g., via an adapter).
Drug diffusing peritoneal dialysis catheter
A peritoneal dialysis catheter includes: a catheter tube defining a lumen for carrying peritoneal dialysis fluid to at least one aperture located at or near a distal end of the lumen; at least one cuff located along the outside of the catheter tube; an access site proximally spaced from the at least one cuff, the access site allowing an antimicrobial agent to be introduced into the catheter tube; a reservoir operable with the catheter tube and in fluid communication with the access site, the reservoir storing an amount of the antimicrobial agent received from the access site after an antimicrobial agent introducer is removed from the access site; and a delivery area of the catheter tube in fluid communication with the reservoir, the delivery area positioned so as to target delivery of the antimicrobial agent to the at least one cuff or other desired location along the catheter tube.
DIALYSIS MACHINE FOR PERITONEAL DIALYSIS
The invention relates to an apparatus for carrying out a peritoneal dialysis treatment comprising a reservoir for fresh dialysis fluid, a connector for connecting to a peritoneal catheter of a patient, a drain for consumed dialysis fluid, and a control unit connected to actuators, wherein the apparatus is configured to carry out a plurality of consecutive inflow-dwell-outflow cycles for a treatment on the basis of a prescription stored in the control unit, in which inflow-dwell-outflow cycles dialysis fluid is supplied to the patient from the reservoir and is led off through the outflow again after the elapse of a specific dwell time in the peritoneum of the patient, and wherein the apparatus is further configured to already replace a portion of the dialysis fluid present in the peritoneum of the patient with fresh dialysis fluid from the reservoir before the elapse of the dwell time in at least one cycle if, in at least one preceding cycle, the volume of fresh dialysis fluid provided in accordance with the prescription for this preceding cycle was not completely consumed.
Dialysis Systems, Devices, and Methods
A treatment device system includes a treatment machine for generating custom peritoneal dialysis solution and including at least one fluid conveyor, the treatment machine having a controller, the controller having a first memory, configured to produce a therapeutic fluid by causing the at least one fluid conveyor to mix purified water and at least one concentrate. The system also includes a user interface and a water purifier in fluid communication with and providing the purified water to the treatment machine, the water purifier including internal central controller, the internal central controller having a second memory, to control preparation of the purified water. A server is communicatively coupled with the treatment machine and a control line provides two way communication between the controller of the treatment machine and the internal central controller of the water purifier.
