The apparatus includes an output test circuit configured to, upon detection of a connection to the external device, issue a test signal to the external device, evaluate a response to the test signal, the response based upon a resistance value within the external device, and determine an identity of the external device based upon the response to the test signal.

Load detection

This application relates to audio driving circuitry (100), and in particular to audio driving circuitry for outputting first and second audio driving signals for driving a stereo audio load (106), which may be a stereo audio load of an accessory apparatus (102) removably coupled to the audio driving circuitry in use. A load monitor (111) is provided for monitoring to monitor, from a monitoring node (112), an indication of a common mode return current passing through a common return path, together with an indication of a common mode component of the first and second audio driving signals and to determine an impedance characteristic of the stereo audio load. The load monitor (111) can provide dynamic monitoring of any significant change in load impedance. In some embodiments the load monitor (111) comprises an adaptive filter (301) which adapts a parameter of the filter which is related to the load impedance so as to determine the indication of load impedance.

Example techniques relate to changing a playback device mode based on a device base. In an example implementation, a first playback device operates in a first mode where it is connected to a first network and plays back audio content while in the first mode. The playback device detects connection of the first playback device to a device base and while the first playback device is on the device base, detects connection to a second network. The first playback device switches from operating in the first mode to operating in a second mode. The first playback device forms a stereo pair configuration with a second playback device over the second network in the second mode. While in the second mode, the first playback device plays back a first channel of audio content in synchrony with the second playback device playing back a second channel of the audio content.

MULTI-CHANNEL CINEMA AMPLIFIER WITH POWER-SHARING, MESSAGING AND MULTI-PHASE POWER SUPPLY

An integrated cinema amplifier comprises a power supply stage that distributes power over a plurality of channels for rendering immersive audio content in a surround sound listening environment. The amplifier automatically detects maximum and net power availability and requirements based on audio content by decoding audio metadata and dynamically adjusts gains to each channel or sets of channels based on content and operational/environmental conditions. A power supply stage provides power to drive a plurality of channels corresponding to speaker feeds to a plurality of speakers. The amplifier has a front panel having an LED array with each LED associated with a respective channel or group of channels of the multi-channel amplifier, and a control unit configured to light the LEDs according to display patterns based on operating status or error conditions of the amplifier.

ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR TRANSMITTING AUDIO DATA TO PLURALITY OF EXTERNAL ELECTRONIC DEVICES, AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING SAME

An electronic device for transmitting audio data to a plurality of external electronic devices, and a method for controlling same are provided. The electronic device includes an audio module, a communication module, and a processor. The processor can control the communication module to identify connections between the electronic device and the plurality of external electronic devices, identify properties of each of the plurality of external electronic devices connected to the electronic device, and control the audio module and the communication module so as to transmit audio data having a designated volume level to each of the plurality of external electronic devices according to the identified properties of the plurality of external electronic devices.
