Methods, systems, and media for controlling audio output are provided. In some implementations, a method for controlling audio output is provided, the method comprising: receiving, by a computing device, audio content to be presented; determining that an output port of the computing device is connected to a corresponding connector; providing the audio content at the output port; recording a first portion of audio using a microphone; determining that the audio content is present in the first portion of audio; continuing to provide the audio content at the output port; recording a second portion of audio using the microphone; determining that the audio content is not present in the second portion of audio; and presenting the audio content using a speaker of the computing device.

Headphone Interaction with Media Playback System

Example techniques may involve headphone interaction. An implementation may include while headphones are disconnected from a control device, the control device receiving an indication of particular audio content being played back by a first zone of the media playback system. While the particular audio content is being played back by the one or more playback devices of the media playback system, detecting that headphones have been connected to the first control device. Headphones may be connectable to the control device via either (a) an analog headphone jack or (b) a point-to-point personal area network connection. In response to detecting that the headphones are connected to the control device: the control device (i) causing the one or more playback devices of the first zone to stop playback of the particular audio content; (ii) retrieving the particular audio content and (iii) resuming playback of the particular audio content via the connected headphones.

Swapping roles between untethered wirelessly connected devices

Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for performing a role swapping operation between a pair of non-tethered wireless ear buds after detecting a triggering event. Further, state information can be coordinated between devices, including in connection with performing a role swap between buds in a pair of wireless, untethered ear buds, where one wireless ear bud is in a primary role and is responsible for a connection with a companion device, and another wireless ear bud in the pair is in a secondary role.

Earphone-switching method and mobile terminal

An earphone-switching method in a mobile terminal are disclosed. The mobile terminal is currently connected with a first earphone, and the method includes performing an earphone-switching operation in response to the mobile terminal being in a call state and an earphone-switching condition being met, the earphone-switching operation being configured for switching the first earphone to a second earphone; detecting whether at least one of a first voice data and a second voice data is obtained during the earphone-switching operation; and sending the at least one of the first voice data and the second voice data, in response to the at least one of the first voice data and the second voice data being obtained, wherein the first voice data is sent to the second earphone, and the second voice data is sent to the peer terminal.

Remote speaker microphone unit for use with headset

A remote speaker microphone (RSM) unit enables a user to use either a headset or an in-ear speaker with the RSM unit. The RSM unit includes a first RSM connection for communicating and connectable with the first connection of the headset; and a second RSM connection for communicating and connectable with the second connection of the in-ear speaker. Connecting either the headset or the in-ear speaker to the RSM unit disables the speaker and microphone of the RSM unit. At least one of the first and second connections are wireless, e.g., Bluetooth or NFC, and at least one of the first and second RSM connections are wireless connections communicable with the first and second connections, respectively. In addition or the alternative, at least one of said first connection and said second connection are electrical plugs and at least one of said first and second RSM connections are corresponding electrical jacks.

Systems and methods for broadcasting audio

An audio system, device, and method for broadcasting, discovering, and receiving wireless audio data connections. The exemplary systems and methods described herein utilize an Isochronous Broadcast Stream topology to unilaterally broadcast a plurality of wireless audio data streams. The audio devices described are configured to discover and receive the plurality of wireless audio data streams and allow the user to organize these streams into a determined order and cycle through each stream based on user input.

Wireless earbuds and related methods

A wireless earbud system includes a first earbud assembly and a second earbud assembly. Each of the first earbud assembly and the second earbud assembly include a housing, an audio driver disposed within the housing, and a wireless receiving unit operatively coupled to the audio driver. The wireless receiving unit is configured to receive a wireless data signal and drive the audio driver based on audio data transmitted in the wireless data signal. The wireless earbud system may also include a tether with a first end and a second end. The first end of the tether is configured to removably couple to the first earbud assembly by a first detachable connector, and the second end of the tether is configured to removably couple to the second earbud assembly by a second detachable connector. Methods also relate to the wireless earbud system.

SPEAKER AUDIO CONFIGURATION SYSTEM
20220078553 · 2022-03-10 ·

System, method, and various embodiments for providing a speaker audio configuration system are described herein. An embodiment operates by identifying an external speaker connected to an audio device. Second capability information for the external speaker is retrieved and user input indicating a relative position of the external speaker to the internal speaker is received. An audio configuration for the external speaker is calculated based on the second capability information and the relative position of the external speaker. The calculated audio configuration is provided to the external speaker. The external speaker is configured to receive and audibly output audio from the audio device based on the audio configuration.

Electronic device for outputting audio through USB port and method thereof

An electronic device includes a universal serial bus (USB) port configured to be wiredly attached to an external audio device, a processor operatively connected to the USB port, and a memory operatively connected to the processor. The memory stores a media application to play audio data, and stores instructions that when executed, cause the processor to play the audio data through the media application, sense an event associated with detachment from the external audio device while the audio data is being played, pause playing the audio data, in response to that the event is sensed, identify whether a device the same as the external audio device is attached within a specified time after the event is sensed, and play the audio data, which is paused, through the media application, when the device the same as the external audio device is attached within the specified time.

Playback Device with Device Base
20210334063 · 2021-10-28 ·

Example techniques relate to changing a playback device mode based on a device base. In an example implementation, a first playback device operates in a first mode where it is connected to a first network and plays back audio content while in the first mode. The playback device detects connection of the first playback device to a device base and while the first playback device is on the device base, detects connection to a second network. The first playback device switches from operating in the first mode to operating in a second mode. The first playback device forms a stereo pair configuration with a second playback device over the second network in the second mode. While in the second mode, the first playback device plays back a first channel of audio content in synchrony with the second playback device playing back a second channel of the audio content.
