HYBRID INPUT NETWORKED AUDIO SUBWOOFER
A hybrid input networked subwoofer includes a traditional line-in analog audio input for receiving analog audio content from non-networked audio source devices together with wired and/or wireless network interfaces for receiving digital audio content from one or more networked audio devices.
Portable electronic device control
Electronic devices such as compact portable media players are provided. A housing for an electronic device may be relatively compact. The housing may include a door assembly with an attached spring-loaded clip. The electronic device may include a hold switch. Depending on the state of the hold switch, the electronic device may be in an off mode, a continuous playback mode, or a shuffle playback mode. The electronic device may not have integrated media playback controls such as play, pause, rewind, fast forward, etc. As one example, the electronic device may connect to an accessory that has media playback controls. Buttons and other user interfaces may be included in the accessory and user input information may be conveyed between the accessory and the electronic device using a wired path including audio connectors. The electronic device may include a printed circuit board assembly that is nested together with a battery assembly.
Wearable audio device with modular component attachment
Various aspects include wearable audio devices enabling modular component attachment and detachment. In certain implementations, a wearable audio device includes: a headband for contacting a head of a user; an earpiece coupled with the headband for positioning proximate an ear of the user, the earpiece having an electro-acoustic transducer configured to output audio signals; and a slot configured to engage an electronic component, where the slot includes one or more snap-fit and/or friction-fit connectors for selectively engaging the electronic component.
Spatial Antenna Diversity Techniques
Embodiments disclosed herein include headphone devices with spatially diverse antennas employing multiple operational modes and antenna switching policies. The headphone device may identify a current mode of operation and wirelessly communicate with at least one external device based at least in part on the current mode of operation. Further, operating in a first mode of operation, the headphone device may cause switching circuitry to selectively couple a first antenna to the common port in accordance with a first antenna switching policy. While operating in the second mode of operation, the headphone device may cause circuitry to selectively couple a second antenna to the common port in accordance with a second antenna switching policy that is different from the first antenna switching policy.
MAGNETIC CONNECTOR AND SENSOR FOR DETECTING A PRESENCE OF A FUNCTION
A system for detecting a presence of a feature or function of an output device used with an electronic device. The system includes a connector associated with the output device, the connector having a magnetic region comprising one or more magnetized members to provide a magnetic field. The system further includes a magnetic sensor associated with the electronic device, the magnetic sensor being positioned proximate a connection port of the electronic device, the connection port being configured to receive the connector to enable the magnetic sensor to detect a presence of the magnetic field and to determine the feature or function of the output device. The system further includes control logic associated with the magnetic sensor, the control logic controlling the electronic device based on the presence of the magnetic field and according to the determined feature or function of the output device.
Peripheral Device Transducer Configuration
A peripheral device for use with a user terminal, the peripheral device comprising: a first housing part and a second housing part flexibly coupled together, the peripheral configured to be operated in an open mode wherein the first housing part and the second housing part lie adjacent to each other such that the peripheral forms a stand for the user terminal and a closed mode wherein the first housing part and the second housing part lie facing each other; at least one sensor in the first housing part configured to determine whether the peripheral device is the open mode or the closed mode; at least one transducer directed in a first orientation suitable for operating in a closed mode; a further transducer directed in a further orientation suitable for operating in an open mode; and control logic for controlling the at least one transducer and the at least one further transducer based on the at least one sensor determining whether the peripheral device is the open mode or the closed mode.
EARBUDS FOR USE BOTH WIRELESSLY AND WITH A WIRED CONNECTION
An earbud for producing a sound output based on an audio signal that is received via a wired connection or wirelessly. The earbud includes a speaker configured to produce a sound based on an audio signal and a battery, wherein the battery is configured to provide power to the speaker. The earbud also includes an antenna, wherein the antenna is configured to connect wirelessly to an external device. The earbud further includes a connector, the connector configured to receive power to charge the battery and connect to the external device. The audio signal is received either over the connector or the antenna. The earbud additionally includes a processor configured to control the electrical elements of the earbud.
Sound Exposure Limiter
Methods and apparatuses for user sound exposure limiting are disclosed. In one example, an accumulated sound dose exposure from a headset speaker is determined for a plurality of sequentially monitored time intervals during a current listening session, wherein the current listening session comprises a total session time. It is determined whether a predicted sound dose exposure for the total session time exceeds or falls below a permitted sound dose exposure limit, the predicted sound dose exposure determined from the accumulated sound dose exposure. A threshold intervention level at which a time-weighted-average limiter at a headset applies attenuation to an audio signal output at a headset speaker is adjusted.
EYEWEAR ACCOMMODATING HEADSET WITH ADAPTIVE AND VARIABLE EAR SUPPORT
Systems and methods are provided for an eyewear accommodating headset with adaptive and variable ear support. An example headset may comprise an ear cup with two or more distinct sections that differ in one or more characteristics. A first section is adaptively configured to accommodate a temple piece of a pair of eyeglasses of a wearer of the headset, and a second section is configured to maintain contact with a temple of the wearer of the headset. The different sections may comprise different foams (or different parts of foam, each with different characteristics). The characteristics may comprise hardness and/or density. Another example headset may comprise an ear cup with a divot that accommodates the temple piece of the eyeglasses.
ELECTRONIC APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
A method for controlling an electronic apparatus connected to a source device and a sound output device. A method for controlling an electronic apparatus may include steps of: receiving content of a source device and providing audio data of the content to a sound output device; when the audio data of the content is not output in the sound output device, diagnose, on the basis of an audio mode of the electronic apparatus, an output error of at least one from among the source device and the sound output device; perform, on the basis of a result of the diagnosis, reconnection to at least one from among the source device and the sound output device; and when the audio data of the content is not output in the second output device even after the reconnection, change the audio mode.
