The present disclosure pertains to an apparatus comprising circuitry configured to: determine a loudspeaker dependent spread factor for at least one individual loudspeaker of a loudspeaker arrangement, wherein the loudspeaker dependent spread factor depends on a specification of the at least one individual loudspeaker; and 5 control the outputs of the loudspeakers of the loudspeaker arrangement based on the loudspeaker dependent spread factor for the at least one individual loudspeaker to generate at least one virtual sound source.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DECODING STEREO LOUDSPEAKER SIGNALS FROM A HIGHER-ORDER AMBISONICS AUDIO SIGNAL
20220182775 · 2022-06-09 · ·

Decoding of Ambisonics representations for a stereo loudspeaker setup is known for first-order Ambisonics audio signals. But such first-order Ambisonics approaches have either high negative side lobes or poor localisation in the frontal region. The invention deals with the processing for stereo decoders for higher-order Ambisonics HOA.

Method and system for encoding and decoding data in audio

A method and system for encoding data in audio are provided. A sequence of time deltas is generated at least partially based on a set of data. At least some of the time deltas are less than a threshold at which a human naturally detects an echo. A second audio channel is generated from a first audio channel, the second audio channel being temporally shifted relative to the first audio channel using the sequence of time deltas. The first and second audio channels are played back simultaneously via at least one audio transducer. The composite audio channel is registered via at least one microphone and processed to identify the first and second audio channels that are at least partially relatively temporally shifted. A sequence of time deltas by which the second audio channel is shifted temporally relative to the first audio channel is determined, and a set of data is decoded at least partially therefrom.

SUBBAND SPATIAL PROCESSING FOR OUTWARD-FACING TRANSAURAL LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEMS

Embodiments relate to audio processing for opposite facing speaker configurations that results in multiple optimal listening regions around the speakers. A system includes a left speaker and a right speaker in an opposite facing speaker configuration, and a crosstalk cancellation processor connected with the left speaker and the right speaker. The crosstalk cancellation processor applies a crosstalk cancellation to an input audio signal to generate left and right output channels. The left output channel is provided to the left speaker and the right output channel is provided to the right speaker to generate sound including multiple crosstalk cancelled listening regions that are spaced apart.

An apparatus is provided that includes at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code with the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to analyze a level difference between a left channel and a right channel of a stereo audio signal and to determine if the level difference between the left channel and the right channel is above a threshold. The apparatus is also caused to conditionally, if the determined level difference is above the threshold, move signal energy from a louder one of the left channel and the right channel to the other of the left channel and the right channel to create a processed left channel and a processed right channel of a processed stereo audio signal. A corresponding method is also provided.

Signal processing device and signal processing method

The present disclosure relates to a signal processing device, a signal processing method, and a program that make it possible to readily achieve personalization of head-related transfer functions in all bands. A synthesis unit generates a third head-related transfer function by synthesizing a characteristic of a first band extracted from a first head-related transfer function of a user and a characteristic of a second band other than the first band extracted from a second head-related transfer function measured in a second measurement environment different from a first measurement environment in which the first head-related transfer function is measured. The present disclosure may be applied to, for example, a mobile terminal such as a smartphone.

A signal processor for a sound reproduction system which is arranged to perform processing of a sound recording so as to provide input signals for an array of distributed loudspeakers, such that the sound field generated by the loudspeakers results in cross-talk cancellation in respect of multiple listener positions at substantially all frequencies reproduced by the loudspeakers, and wherein the sound field so generated is an approximation of a sound field produced by an Optimal Source Distribution, OSD.

Audio system and method of augmenting spatial audio rendition
11736862 · 2023-08-22 · ·

An audio system and method of using the audio system to augment spatial audio rendition is described. The audio system can include a device to receive user inputs designating positions on an augmented reality view of a listening environment. Sound source icons can be presented in the augmented reality view at the designated positions. The sound source icons can visually represent sound sources at locations in the listening environment that correspond to, but are different than, the positions. One or more processors of the audio system can apply head-related transfer functions, which correspond to the locations in the listening environment, to audio input signals to generate binaural audio signals. The audio system can include a headset that uses the binaural audio signals to render spatialized audio localizing sounds to the locations in the listening environment. Other aspects are also described and claimed.
