Display apparatus, control method thereof, and display system
A display apparatus, control method, and system are provided. The display apparatus includes a display; one or more loudspeakers; a signal processor configured to process an image signal so that an image may be displayed on the display and sound may be output from the loudspeaker; a communication interface configured to communicate with one or more external display apparatuses; and a controller configured to transmit sound processed by the signal processor to the one or more loudspeakers in accordance with a preset output designation state, determine a divided and displayed state of an image with respect to the display apparatus and the one or more external display apparatuses, and adjust the output designation state of the sound with respect to the one or more loudspeakers based on the determination.
METHODS, APPARATUS AND SYSTEMS FOR AUDIO REPRODUCTION
Audio perception in local proximity to visual cues is provided. A device includes a video display, first row of audio transducers, and second row of audio transducers. The first and second rows can be vertically disposed above and below the video display. An audio transducer of the first row and an audio transducer of the second row form a column to produce, in concert, an audible signal. The perceived emanation of the audible signal is from a plane of the video display (e.g., a location of a visual cue) by weighing outputs of the audio transducers of the column. In certain embodiments, the audio transducers are spaced farther apart at a periphery for increased fidelity in a center portion of the plane and less fidelity at the periphery.
Front loudspeaker directivity for surround sound systems
An audio receiver that receives left, right, and center audio channels for a piece of sound program content is described. A content processor in the audio receiver generates separate audio signals corresponding to each channel for driving corresponding transducers in left and right loudspeaker arrays. The content processor generates (1) first center audio signals for driving transducers in the left array to generate a first center pattern, (2) second center audio signals for driving transducers in the right array to generate a second center pattern, (3) left audio signals for driving transducers in the left array to generate a left pattern, and (4) right audio signals for driving transducers in the right array to generate a right pattern. The first and second center patterns collectively represent the center channel while the left and right patterns respectively represent the left and right channels.
Producing a multichannel sound from stereo audio signals
The invention relates to a method for generating a multichannel audio signal (600, 700) from a stereo audio signal (100, 200), having the following steps: ascertaining a first panning coefficient (310) and a second panning coefficient (320) of the stereo audio signal; ascertaining a direct signal (515) as well as a first surroundings signal (510) and a second surroundings signal (520) from the first audio signal and the second audio signal and from the first panning coefficient and the second panning coefficient; ascertaining a plurality of repanning coefficients (410, 415, 420) from the panning coefficients, each repanning coefficient of the plurality of repanning coefficients being assigned to an audio channel (580, 585, 590) of a plurality of audio channels of the multichannel audio signal; calculating each direct signal using each of the repanning coefficients of the plurality of repanning coefficients; and converting each audio channel into a playback signal (600, 700) of the multichannel audio signal, each playback signal being provided for a respective playback device.

Extracting a common signal from multiple audio signals may include summing a first signal and a second signal to obtain a first+second signal; subtracting the second signal from the first signal to obtain a first−second signal; transforming the first+second signal and the first−second signal to frequency domain representations; calculating absolute value of the frequency domain representations of the first+second signal and the first−second signal; subtracting the absolute value of the frequency domain representation of the first−second signal from the absolute value of the frequency domain representation of the first+second signal to obtain a difference signal; multiplying the difference signal by the frequency domain representation of the first+second signal to obtain a product signal; dividing the product signal by the absolute value of the frequency domain representation of the first+second signal to obtain a frequency domain representation of the common signal; and transforming the frequency domain representation to the common signal.

A signal processing device includes: a calculating unit performing calculation using signal levels of first and second acoustic signals; a determining unit, based on a result of a comparison between: the signal level of at least one of the first and second acoustic signals before the calculation; and a result of the calculation, determining whether a component of a third acoustic signal to be output from a position between a position from which the first acoustic signal is output and a position from which the second acoustic signal is output is included in the first and second acoustic signals; and a signal generating unit generating the third acoustic signal from the first and second acoustic signals when the determining unit determines that the component of the third acoustic signal is included in the first and second acoustic signals.
MULTI CHANNEL CODING
A device includes a receiver and a decoder. The receiver is configured to receive stereo parameters encoded, by an encoder, based on a plurality of windows having a first length of overlapping portions between the plurality of windows. The decoder is configured to perform an upmix operation using the stereo parameters to generate at least two audio signals. The at least two audio signals are generated based on a second plurality of windows used in the upmix operation. The second plurality of windows has a second length of overlapping portions between the second plurality of windows. The second length is different from the first length.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING 3D SOUND FOR SURROUND SOUND CONFIGURATIONS
A system for listening to binaural audio through a plurality of speakers having at least two pair of speakers, incorporating applying at least two Crosstalk Cancellation Filter to a corresponding at least two binaural signals to create a corresponding at least two pair of speaker signals, and inputting the at least two pairs of speakers signals to a corresponding at least two pairs of speakers of a plurality of speakers. The invention also relates to a system and method for listening to binaural audio through a plurality of speakers by dividing the speakers into groups, generating a Crosstalk Cancellation Filter for each group, and distributing the binaural audio among the speaker groups. The invention also relates to a system for placing a binaural audio signal onto a plurality of pairs of cross talk cancelled loudspeakers.
Manipulation of Playback Device Response Using Signal Processing
Example techniques involve outputting multiple audio channels using a multiple driver playback device. An example playback device receives a first and second channel of audio content. The playback device plays back play back the first channel via a first group of audio transducers such that the first group of audio transducers form, via superposition, a first response lobe having a maximum in a first direction. Further, the playback device plays back the second channel via a second group of audio transducers such that the second group of audio transducers form, via superposition, a second response lobe having a maximum in a second direction that is separated by an angle of at least 45° from the first direction.
Stereo parameters for stereo decoding
An apparatus includes a receiver and a decoder. The receiver is configured to receive a bitstream that includes a first frame and a second frame. The first frame includes a first portion of a mid channel and a first quantized stereo parameter. The second frame includes a second portion of the mid channel and a second quantized stereo parameter. The decoder is configured to generate a first portion of a channel based on the first portion of the mid channel and the first quantized stereo parameter. The decoder is configured to, in response to the second frame being unavailable for decoding operations, estimate the second quantized stereo parameter based on stereo parameters of one or more preceding frames and generate a second portion of the channel based on the estimated second quantized stereo parameter. The second portion of the channel corresponds to a decoded version of the second frame.
