20180007485 · 2018-01-04 ·

The present technology relates to an acoustic signal processing apparatus, an acoustic signal processing method, and a program for expanding a range of listening positions in which an effect of a transaural reproduction system can be obtained. First and second output signals for localizing a sound image in front of or behind and on the left of a first position located on the left of a listening position are output from first and second speakers, respectively. Third and fourth output signals for localizing a sound image in front of or behind and on the right of a second position located on the right of the listening position are output from third and fourth speakers, respectively. The first speaker is disposed in a first direction in front of or behind the listening position and on the left of the listening position. The second speaker is disposed in the first direction and on the right of the listening position. The third speaker is disposed in the first direction and on the left of the listening position and on the right of the first speaker. The fourth speaker is disposed in the first direction of the listening position and on the right of the second speaker. The present technology can be applied, for example, to an acoustic processing system.

METHODS AND APPARATUSES RELATING TO AN ESTIMATED POSITION OF AN AUDIO CAPTURE DEVICE
20180007486 · 2018-01-04 ·

This specification describes a method comprising determining whether an estimated position of an audio capture device which captures audio data is within boundaries of a predetermined area, and in response to a determination that the estimated position is not within the boundaries of the predetermined area, associating the captured audio data with an adjusted position.

Headset sound leakage mitigation

An audio system for a headset includes a plurality of speakers and an audio controller. The plurality of speakers may be in a dipole configuration that cancel sound leakage into a local area of the headset. The controller filters audio content presented by the plurality of speakers to further mitigate leakage of audio content into the local area. The audio determines sound filters based on environmental conditions, such as ambient noise levels, as well as based on the audio content being presented.

ADAPTIVE AUDIO CONSTRUCTION

Described herein is a method for creating an object-based audio signal from an audio input, the audio input including one or more audio channels that are recorded to collectively define an audio scene. The one or more audio channels are captured from a respective one or more spatially separated microphones disposed in a stable spatial configuration. The method includes the steps of: a) receiving the audio input; b) performing spatial analysis on the one or more audio channels to identify one or more audio objects within the audio scene; c) determining contextual information relating to the one or more audio objects; d) defining respective audio streams including audio data relating to at least one of the identified one or more audio objects; and e) outputting an object-based audio signal including the audio streams and the contextual information.

METHOD FOR PROCESSING SOUND ON BASIS OF IMAGE INFORMATION, AND CORRESPONDING DEVICE

A method of processing an audio signal including at least one audio object based on image information includes: obtaining the audio signal and a current image that corresponds to the audio signal; dividing the current image into at least one block; obtaining motion information of the at least one block; generating index information including information for giving a three-dimensional (3D) effect in at least one direction to the at least one audio object, based on the motion information of the at least one block; and processing the audio object, in order to give the 3D effect in the at least one direction to the audio object, based on the index information.

Spatial audio navigation

Methods and apparatus for spatial audio navigation that may, for example, be implemented by mobile multipurpose devices. A spatial audio navigation system provides navigational information in audio form to direct users to target locations. The system uses directionality of audio played through a binaural audio device to provide navigational cues to the user. A current location, target location, and map information may be input to pathfinding algorithms to determine a real world path between the user's current location and the target location. The system may then use directional audio played through a headset to guide the user on the path from the current location to the target location. The system may implement one or more of several different spatial audio navigation methods to direct a user when following a path using spatial audio-based cues.

Moving an emoji to move a location of binaural sound

During an electronic communication between a first user and a second user, an electronic device of the second user displays a graphical representation at a located selected by the first user. The graphical representation provides an indication to the second user where binaural sound associated with the graphical representation will externally localize to the second user. Subsequent movement of the graphical representation changes a location where the binaural sound externally localizes to the second user.

Binaural Sound in Visual Entertainment Media

A method provides binaural sound to a listener while the listener watches a movie so sounds from the movie localize to a location of a character in the movie. Sound is convolved with head related transfer functions (HRTFs) of the listener, and the convolved sound is provided to the listener who wears a wearable electronic device.

A sound controlling system including a user terminal having a sound source, a wireless communication device, a digital to analog converter (DAC) and first processing electronics. The first processing electronics are configured to: provide data of a backing sound to the sound source; control the sound source to generate a sound signal based on the data; receive a first input instruction including a first instruction to transmit the sound signal and a second instruction to play back the backing sound; provide the sound signal to the wireless communication device as the first input instruction being the first instruction, and provide the sound signal to the DAC as being the second instruction; control the wireless communication device to convert the sound signal to a wireless signal and transmit the wireless signal; and convert the sound signal from a digital signal to an analog signal for play back of the backing sound.

METHOD FOR GENERATING CUSTOMIZED SPATIAL AUDIO WITH HEAD TRACKING

A headphone for spatial audio rendering includes a first database having an impulse response pair corresponding to a reference speaker location. A head sensor provides head orientation information to a second database having rotation filters, the filters corresponding to different azimuth and elevation positions relative to the reference speaker location. A digital signal processor combines the rotation filters with the impulse response pair to generate an output binaural audio signal to transducers of the headphone. Efficiencies in creating impulse response or HRTF databases are achieved by sampling the impulse response less frequently than in conventional methods. This sampling at coarser intervals reduces the number of data measurements required to generate a spherical grid and reduces the time involved in capturing the impulse responses. Impulse responses for data points falling between the sampled data points are generated by interpolating in the frequency domain.
