TARGETED ALERT SYSTEM WITH LOCATION-BASED AND ROLE-BASED ALERT DISTRIBUTION
A system for distributing targeted alerts to building occupants includes building equipment and a targeted alert system. The building equipment are configured to detect an event within a building and generate an alert identifying the event. The targeted alert system is configured to receive the alert from the building equipment, identify a location within the building of each of a plurality of building occupants, identify a role performed by each of the plurality of building occupants, select one or more of the building occupants to receive the alert based on at least one of the location of each building occupant and the role performed by each building occupant, and distribute the alert to the selected building occupants.
Systems and methods implementing a communication protocol for data communication with a vehicle
A system and method configured to establish a communication connection between a vehicle and a remote computing device for data transmission. A beacon device is configured at a location to detect the presence of the vehicle, transmit an identity of the location to the vehicle, and communicate with the vehicle to determine an identity of the vehicle. The vehicle is configured to communicate with mobile devices of occupants of the vehicle. The remote computing device is connected to the beacon device via a data communication network and configured to determine, via the beacon device communicating with the vehicle, identification information of at least one mobile device of at least one occupant of the vehicle, and establish the communication connection between the computing device and the vehicle based at least in part on the identification information and the identity of the vehicle.
DEVICES FOR CONFIGURING A SYSTEM AS A USER APPROACHES
A device for a system includes a wireless transceiver, a memory, and a microcontroller. The microcontroller is communicatively coupled to the wireless transceiver and the memory. The microcontroller is configured to receive via the wireless transceiver, user configuration data in response to a user approaching the system. The microcontroller is configured to store the user configuration data in the memory. The microcontroller is configured to transmit the user configuration data to an interface processor of the system to configure the system based on the user configuration data.

IN-VEHICLE UNIT AND IN-VEHICLE UNIT DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM
In-vehicle units are on host vehicles including a subject vehicle and at least one nearby vehicle. Each in-vehicle unit transmits and receives information using inter-vehicle communication, acquires information indicating state of a control system controlling operation of each in-vehicle unit, generates an index data-item including an index value indicating state of the control system based on the acquired information, and transmits the generated index data-item using inter-vehicle communication. A subject in-vehicle unit in the subject vehicle includes: a communication processing section acquiring an index data-item from the nearby vehicle; a determination criterion specification section successively specifying a self-unit determination criterion being a determination criterion determining whether the control system in the subject in-vehicle unit operates normally, based on the index data-item; and a self-unit diagnosis test section determining whether the control system in the subject in-vehicle unit operates normally by comparing the self-unit determination criterion with the index data-item in the subject in-vehicle unit.
Product Display Surface Apparatus and Method
A product display surface supports at least one product being offered for sale thereon. This product display surface has a weight-sensitive RFID tag associated therewith. This tag has at least one transmission element that moves with respect to a remaining portion of the tag as a function of weight being supported by the product display surface. So configured, the weight-sensitive RFID tag transmits at a first level when there are no products (or only a few products) on the product display surface and at a second level when there are at least a predetermined number of products on the product display surface, the first transmission level being less than the second transmission level. An RFID-tag reader reads the weight-sensitive RFID tag and a control circuit determines when the first product display surface lacks sufficient displayed inventory as a function, at least in part, of the weight-sensitive RFID tag's transmission strength.
Equipment visual status indicator system and method
A lift device having an implement, a prime mover configured to drive the implement, and a connectivity module communicably coupled with the lift device. The connectivity module is configured to receive an input relating to a status of the lift device, and provide an indication representing the status of the lift device.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PERFORMING RANDOM ACCESS
The present specification relates to an apparatus and method for performing random access. This specification discloses a method for performing random access by a terminal in a non-terrestrial network system, the method comprising the steps of: performing a search for a cell of a non-terrestrial network on the basis of a synchronization signal block transmitted from a non-terrestrial network node; after the search for the cell is completed, receiving, from the non-terrestrial network node, random access-related information about the cell of the non-terrestrial network; generating a random access preamble on the basis of a frequency resource area of a random access channel related to the cell of the non-terrestrial network; and transmitting the generated random access preamble to the non-terrestrial network node. Performance degradation can be reduced when random access is performed in a non-terrestrial network system.
DATA PROVIDING SYSTEM
Each of data receiving devices 20 includes a receiver 22 configured to receive data from a data providing device 10, and a transmitter 21 configured to transmit throughput information indicating a current position and a throughput, to the data providing device 10. The data providing device 10 includes: a receiver 11 configured to receive pieces of the throughput information; a planning unit 12 configured to, on the basis of the received pieces of throughput information, determine preceding data receiving devices 20 existing at positions preceding the current position of a target data receiving device 20 on the same route, and generate a data providing plan for the target data receiving device 20 on the basis of the throughputs of the preceding data receiving devices 20; and a transmitter 13 configured to provide data to the target data receiving device 20 in accordance with the generated data providing plan.
