METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MOBILITY MANAGEMENT
20230110023 · 2023-04-13 ·

A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which a mobility management service is provided. The service may evaluate geospatial, performance metric, and neighbor criteria data relating to overlap areas between source cells and candidate target cells. The service may calculate composite values for each candidate target cell and select the candidate target cell based on the composite value. The service may manage the mobility of end devices and associated mobility procedures on a sub-sector, sector, cell, and cluster of cell level. The service may reconfigure network devices and the end device to satisfy optimization, healing, and site planning measures.

Interworking function for VoLTE outbound roaming

This invention is a system and method for implementing a VoLTE and circuit switched voice and SMS interworking function to provide voice and SMS service to roaming mobile devices at visiting network based on Circuit-switched (CS) roaming towards VPLMN, and VoLTE voice and SMS roaming towards HPLMN. The interworking function translates CS signaling with VPLMN into IMS signaling towards IMS core at HPLMN. The interworking function also performs location-update registration at HSS at HPLMN for receiving mobile-terminated voice calls and SMS.

WIRELESS USER EQUIPMENT (UE) CONTROL OVER WIRELESS NETWORK SLICES BASED ON SLICE REQUIREMENTS

A wireless User Equipment (UE) controls a wireless network slice type that has slice requirements. In the UE, source Radio Resource Control (RRC) circuitry exchanges source signaling with a source Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF). During the exchange of the source signaling, target RRC circuitry exchanges target signaling with target AMFs and determines AMF characteristics. The target RRC circuitry compares the AMF characteristics to the slice requirements and selects one of the target AMFs based on the comparison. The source or target RRC circuitry exchange additional target signaling with the selected one of the target AMFs to use the wireless network slice type. User-plane circuitry exchanges user data with the wireless network slice which is controlled by the selected target AMF.
