MODIFYING A CONFIGURATION OF A RADIO BEARER BASED ON A REQUEST FOR QUALITY OF SERVICE (QOS) FOR A COMMUNICATION FLOW
20230016194 · 2023-01-19 ·

Aspects of the present disclosure provide example apparatus, methods, processing systems, and computer readable mediums implementing techniques for modifying a configuration of a radio bearer based on a request for quality of service (QoS) for a communication flow. In aspects, a user equipment (UE) receives a request for a QoS for a communication flow and maps the communication flow to a radio bearer based on a downlink map. The UE is configured to communicate over a number of radio bearers. The downlink map associates one or more communication flows to one or more of the number of radio bearers. The UE then modifies a configuration of the radio bearer based on the request for the QoS. During operation, the UE receives one or more downlink packets on the radio bearer and processes the one or more downlink packets according to the QoS.

VIRTUAL NETWORK ASSISTANT WITH LOCATION INPUT
20230020899 · 2023-01-19 ·

Techniques are described in which a network management system (NMS) is configured to determine a root cause of degraded network performance based on SLE metrics and the locations associated with network devices providing the SLE metrics. The NMS can determine service level experience (SLE) metrics associated with each client device on a network and location data for each client device of the plurality of client devices. The NMS can generate a time series of parameter vectors, where each parameter vector includes SLE metrics corresponding to each client device of the plurality of client devices. Each parameter vector is associated with the location of the client device corresponding to the SLE metrics. The NMS can determine, based on the time series of parameter vectors and associated locations, a root cause for a degradation in SLE metrics associated with the one or more of the client devices.

DYNAMIC NETWORK RESOURCE SLICE PARTITION SIZE ADJUSTMENT
20230020027 · 2023-01-19 ·

Dynamic network resource slice partition size adjustment is provided herein. A method can include partitioning resources enabled via a communication network among network slices of the communication network, the network slices comprising an expandable network slice and a contractable network slice, obtaining a resource usage value for the expandable network slice, the resource usage value indicating a first proportion of the resources enabled via the communication network being used by the expandable network slice, and in response to the resource usage value being greater than a threshold, reallocating a portion of the resources enabled via the communication network from the contractable network slice to the expandable network slice, the portion of the resources being defined based on a function of a ratio of the first proportion to a second proportion of the resources enabled via the communication network being used by the contractable network slice.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR INDICATING THAT CONNECTION ENABLES ROUTING OF DATA BETWEEN PDN GATEWAY AND LOCAL GATEWAY
20230017009 · 2023-01-19 ·

A user equipment device (UE) initiates the creation of a dedicated bearer between a local gateway (L-GW) and a packet data network gateway (P-GW). A GTP tunnel is established to connect the L-GW, a serving gateway (S-GW), and the P-GW. The L-GW and P-GW apply Network Address Translation (NAT) and/or Traffic Flow Template (TFT) to route the traffic between the LS and a Service Capacity Server/Application Server (SCS/AS). Alternatively, an SCS-initiates the bearer creation, and an SCEF manages the creation of the GTP tunnel connecting. The L-GW may be co-located with an Evolved UTRAN Node B (eNB) and/or connected to multiple eNBs which are not co-located with the L-GW.

4G/5G Open RAN CU-UP Pool Solution

A method, system and computer readable media are presented for managing Centralized Unit (CU)-User Plane (UP) in CU-Control Plane (CP). In one embodiment a method includes configuring a pool of CU-UPs; associating a CU-UP of the pool of CU-UPs with a type of subscriber; and selecting a CU-UP of the pool of CU-UPs pool based on characteristics associated with the CU-UP.

TRAFFIC PATTERN IDENTIFICATION AND NETWORK FUNCTION CONTROL METHOD AND APPARATUS
20230016114 · 2023-01-19 ·

A method includes processing first data from a network node to determine a mobile device is accessing a communication network and to identify a first traffic pattern. The method also includes searching a database for a first network function corresponding to the first traffic pattern. The method further includes causing a network device to activate the first network function based on the first traffic pattern. The method additionally includes processing second data from the network node to determine the communication network is no longer being accessed by the mobile device and to identify a second traffic pattern. The method also includes searching the database for a second network function corresponding to the second traffic pattern. The method further includes causing the network device to deactivate the first network function and to activate the second network function based on the second traffic pattern.

TECHNIQUES FOR MANAGING EXPOSURE USING UPLINK DUTY CYCLING
20230016288 · 2023-01-19 ·

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for radio frequency (RF) exposure limit compliance using uplink duty cycling. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a buffer status report (BSR) that indicates an amount of data that is to be transmitted by the UE, where lower priority data reported in the BSR may be throttled in order to reduce an amount of uplink resources associated with the lower priority data and thereby adjust an uplink duty cycle of the UE. The reduced uplink duty cycle may provide for additional transmit power that is available for higher priority data transmissions.

Providing Wireless Network Access
20230222521 · 2023-07-13 ·

A network access point may control access by limiting time of access to users, and by granting additional access time in exchange for certain user behavior, such as viewing advertisements. Other rewards may be granted as well, such as changes to the user's network access quality, or access to restricted content.

Non-contention based low latency scheduling request transmission

Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, an apparatus of a user equipment (UE) comprises circuitry to configure a scheduling request (SR) transmission based on a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), and combine the scheduling request with a buffer status report (BSR). The UE transmits the combined SR and BSR in a single subframe to a network entity, receives uplink resource scheduling from the network entity in reply to the combined SR and BSR, and transmits uplink data to the network entity according to the uplink resource scheduling.
