Customer Specific Network Slicing
20230041375 · 2023-02-09 · ·

A system, device and method, for customer specific network slicing includes a VNO server, a first node, and a virtualized network. The VNO server executes computer instructions instantiating a solution manager engine which identifies a Solution, communicates the Solution to the first node, and upon acceptance of the Solution by the first node, instructs the virtualized network to couple the first node with a second node in accordance with the Solution. The virtualized network may include network function virtualization infrastructure and the Solution may include a slice of the virtualized network. The slice satisfies a Service Level Requirement (SLR), such as one that specifies a maximum latency for the slice. The SLR is specified in a Need received by the VNO server from the first node. The SLR is determined based upon an application program the first Node is at least one of currently executing and expected to later execute.

Enhanced management of ACs in multi-user EDCA transmission mode in wireless networks

To avoid blocking node AC queues in the degraded MU EDCA mode due to regular OFDMA transmission of data from another AC queue in resource units provided by an AP, the present invention proposes to use a dedicated HEMUEDCATimer for each AC queue, in order for them to be able to exit the degraded MU EDCA mode independently of the other AC queues. In this respect, upon successfully transmitting data stored in two or more traffic queues, in each of one or more accessed resource units provided by the AP within one or more transmission opportunities, the node sets each traffic queue transmitting in the accessed resource unit in the degraded MU EDCA mode for a predetermined degrading duration counted down by a respective timer associated with the transmitting traffic queue. Next, upon expiry of any timer, the node switches back the associated traffic queue to the conventional EDCA mode.

Overload control and coordination between M2M service layer and 3GPP networks

Various issues with existing congestion and overload control mechanisms are recognized and described herein. Described herein, in accordance with various embodiments, are various mechanisms in which core networks, such as 3GPP networks for example, and an M2M service layer can coordinate and share information to efficiently and intelligently manage each other's congestion and overload states.

Tracking QoS violated events

A method in a network node comprises: detecting a Quality of Service (QoS) Violated Event in respect of a particular QoS flow of a Protocol Data Unit (PDU) session; and sending a corresponding QoS violated event report to any one or more of: a Session Management Function (SMF) of the network; a Policy Control Function (PCF) of the network; an Application Function (AF) of the network; and a third party service provider.

System and method for providing carrier-independent VoIP communication
11595529 · 2023-02-28 · ·

Systems and methods for seamlessly providing carrier-independent VoIP calls initiated using an existing carrier-issued telephone number are provided. In exemplary embodiments, the existing carrier-issued telephone number to be called is received. Subsequently, a status regarding if the existing carrier-issued telephone number is a registered telephone number stored in a carrier-independent database is determined. If the existing carrier-issued telephone number comprises a registered telephone number in the carrier-independent database, a call is established via peer-to-peer connection using an address associated with the registered telephone number. However, if the existing carrier-issued telephone number is not a registered telephone number in the carrier-independent database, the call is placed via a standard route.

SELECTING AND COMMUNICATING BUFFER STATUS INFORMATION
20180007582 · 2018-01-04 · ·

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may select a first type of buffer status information or a second type of buffer status information. The first type of buffer status information may indicate an amount of data buffered and the second type of buffer status information has less bits and is a different format than the first type of buffer status information. The WTRU may select, subsequent to a number of subframes of a transmission of buffer status information of a first type, buffer status information of the first type for transmission.

CALL FLOW SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR USE IN A LEGACY TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEM
20180007608 · 2018-01-04 ·

A method of operating a network server, such as a mobile application gateway, connect devices on a cellular or carrier network with individual networks, such as enterprise voice and data networks or residential networks. The effects of the present invention are far reaching in terms of transferring effective call control from the cellular network into the control of the individual network, such as the enterprise, and enabling new business models for the purchase of cellular service from a public cellular carrier by an enterprise.

System and Method for Carrier Aggregation for Wireless Local Area Networks
20180007579 · 2018-01-04 ·

Embodiments are provided herein for improving carrier aggregation for wireless networks. A plurality of bandwidth channels are assigned to a basic service set (BSS) for transmissions. Specifically, the bandwidth channels are divided into multiple channel segments corresponding to multiple primary or alternate primary channels. A channel segment possibly further includes one or more additional secondary channels. The locations of the primary or alternate primary channels that correspond to the channel segments of the BSS are then broadcasted in the network. When a station or AP receives this BSS information, it searches for an available primary or alternate primary channel of the BSS to begin transmission. Upon detecting an available primary channel or alternate primary channel that is not used for another transmission, the station or AP transmits data on the channel segment corresponding to the detected primary or alternate primary channel.

IMPROVING COMMUNICATION EFFICIENCY

There is provided a method comprising: preparing a data packet for transmission on a bearer, wherein at least one of the following is configured for transmission: a first network node and a second network node, checking whether at least one predetermined criterion is met, selecting, based at least partly on the said checking, whether to transmit the data packet via the first network node, via the second network node, or via both the first and the second network nodes, and transmitting the data packet according to the selecting.

MITIGATION OF SIGNALLING CONGESTION IN CELLULAR NETWORKS
20180007614 · 2018-01-04 ·

A method for signalling congestion avoidance based on Non-Access Stratum (NAS) level congestion control in a mobile network includes activating or starting a group specific NAS level congestion control mechanism that applies to a group of terminals; receiving at a serving node of a terminal of the group of terminals an NAS Session Management (SM) request message from the terminal related to a particular access point name (APN); and transmitting from the serving node of the terminal to the terminal one or more NAS reject messages that indicate suppression or prevention of NAS SM signalling of the terminal that is related either to all APNs to which the terminal has established or activated IP bearers or to all APNs to which the terminal has a subscription.
