Devices and methods for communication in a wireless communication network

An apparatus, a method, and a computer readable medium are provided. The apparatus is configured to transmit and/or receive control plane signaling related to the control of radio resources of a sidelink communication system to/from a user equipment (UE), wherein the control plane signaling is carried over a user plane, in particular through IP encapsulation, of a second communication system between the apparatus and the UE. Moreover, embodiments of the disclosure relate to a corresponding UE as well as corresponding methods.

ADAPTIVE WIRELESS CONNECTIONS IN MULTI-MODE DEVICES

Implementations disclosed describe techniques and systems that improve wireless connectivity between devices that support multiple operation modes, by monitoring a quality of the established wireless connection and performing a change of the operation mode in response to changing conditions. The disclosed techniques include obtaining metrics characterizing quality of the wireless connection, identifying a utility function that is specific to an application supported by the wireless connection, computing multiple values of the utility function for various operation modes, based on the obtained metrics, and initiating a change of the operation mode based on a comparison of the computed utility values.

DEVICE FOR WIRELESS COMMUNICATION HANDOVER

A device (110) arranged for wireless communication (130) has a processor (112) to execute a handover sequence to establish a new connection with a further device (120). A handover request message has a protocol indication indicating one or more alternative communication protocols that are supported by the requester and a channel indication indicating at least one channel to be used for a new connection. Upon receiving a first handover request message including an initial protocol indication and an initial channel indication, it is determined whether the new connection is to be established based on the initial protocol indication and via a selected channel based on the initial channel indication. If not so, the processor determines a second protocol indication and a second channel indication indicating at least one further channel to be used for the new connection and sends a second handover request message. Effectively the role of handover requester and handover selector are switched.

SWITCHING BETWEEN DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION PROTOCOLS

Disclosed herein are a system, a method and a device for switching between different communications protocols. A head wearable display can transmit, to a console during a first session interval, a first request to switch from a first link using a first communication protocol to a second link using a second communication protocol. The first request can include at least one characteristic of the first link. The head wearable display can receive, from the console, a first response to the first request, to perform a switch from the first link to the second link. The first response can indicate a wake up time and a second session interval to perform the switch. The head wearable display can switch from the first link to the second link in the second session interval and after the wake up time.

A wireless communications system includes a packet core network and a wireless access network that includes a base station and a terminal. The wireless communications system is capable of communications between terminals through a first path that includes the packet core network and communications between terminals through a second path that does not include the packet core network. The wireless communications system includes plural terminals; and a control station configured to be capable of processing related to proximity-based communications services between the plural terminals, obtaining identifiers of the plural terminals and position information related to positions of the plural terminals, by the processing related to the proximity-based communications services, and causing communication between the plural terminals to be executed by the second path, based on the identifiers of the plural terminals and the position information related to the positions of the plural terminals.

Path switching method and related device

A path switching method and a related device, where the method includes receiving, by a base station, a first message from a first user equipment requesting to switch the first user equipment from a non-direct path for communicating with the base station using a second user equipment to a direct path communicating with the base station, and sending, by the base station, a second message to the first user equipment instructing the first user equipment to perform path switching. The second message includes at least one of a timing advance, a closed-loop power control value or an uplink grant configuration.

DEVICE TO DEVICE MOBILITY MANAGEMENT METHOD, USER EQUIPMENT AND NETWORK ENTITY USING THE SAME

The disclosure is directed to a device to device (D2D) mobility management method applicable to a network entity and a user equipment and related apparatuses. In one of the exemplary embodiments, the disclosure is directed to a device to device (D2D) mobility management method used by a network entity. The method would include not limited to transmitting a service request message which includes an application identifier (ID) and a traffic type ID, receiving a first measurement report including a signal quality measurement which is measured based on the service request message, determining a topology type ID and a communication type ID in response to receiving the first measurement report, transmit an access request message which comprises the topology type ID, the communication type ID, and the traffic type ID, and receive an authorization of a network slice in response to transmitting the access request message.

Communications system

A system is disclosed in which a mobile communication device establishes device-to-device (D2D) communication with another mobile communication device, and searches for a communication network while engaged in the D2D communication. When it finds a communication network, the mobile communication device indicates that it is engaged in the D2D communication. The mobile communication device continues, or does not continue, the D2D communication based on an authorization by the communication network.

Methods and apparatuses for Wi-Fi network and Wi-Fi Direct operation are disclosed. In one example, audio data is exchanged between a wireless Wi-Fi/WFD device and a Wi-Fi/WFD base over a private network using a Wi-Fi Direct communications link. A Wi-Fi communications link between the wireless Wi-Fi/WFD device and a Wi-Fi Access Point is formed over a non-private network. Audio data is exchanged between the wireless Wi-Fi/WFD device and the Wi-Fi/WFD base over a non-private network using the Wi-Fi communications link.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR RESOURCE CONFIGURATION IN HANDOVER
20170289874 · 2017-10-05 ·

A technique relating to resource configuration in a wireless communication network. A terminal device in the wireless communication network receives information about supplemental resource from a source cell. Then the terminal device determines a time interval, in which the supplemental resource is available to the terminal device, in a transition period of a handover from the source cell to a target cell based on a timer associated with a random access procedure in the handover. In this way, the terminal device may use the supplemental resource during the handover.
