At least partial disablement of transmission port based on thermal condition and associated capability indication

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) may partially disable transmissions on a transmission port based on a temperature condition (e.g., chipset temperature or skin temperature exceeding threshold). In a further aspect, the UE may enable the partially disabled transmissions on the transmission port in response to cessation of the temperature condition. In a further aspect, the UE may transmit a capability indication to a base station that indicates that the UE is capable of supporting a transition from a multi-layer (rank-2) communication mode to a single-layer (rank-1) communication mode.

Handover in heterogeneous radio communication networks based on systematic imbalance differences

Presented is an apparatus and methods for determining if a determined systematic imbalance difference between a serving base station and one or more candidate base stations exceeds a threshold value and, if so, then using uplink information as part of a handover mechanism. The selective usage of uplink information in the handover mechanism can improve handover performance without unduly adding to complexity and signaling overhead.

Method and apparatus for managing dual connection establishment

A method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided to manage the establishment of a dual connection. A method according to an example embodiment may include causing a dual connection setup request message to be transmitted to a local area access point (LAAP) and causing a dual connection command to be transmitted to a user equipment (UE). The method further includes receiving a dual connection establishment complete message and causing resources associated with one or more split bearers to be released or suspended.

Call re-establishment in a multi-layer heterogeneous network

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for call re-establishment. In one aspect there is provided a method. The method may include determining a radio link failure between a user equipment and a base station; and sending, by the user equipment after the determined radio link failure, a request to re-establish a connection, wherein the request includes layer information identifying the base station in a network. Related apparatus, systems, methods, and articles are also described.

A resource processing method, an apparatus, and a system are disclosed. The resource processing method comprises: receiving, by UE, first signaling from a base station, wherein the first signaling is used to instruct to deactivate a first cell that provides a service for the UE, or used to instruct the UE to switch from a source bandwidth part (BWP) to a target BWP; and processing, by a media access control (MAC) entity in the UE, a first target resource by using a first target processing manner, wherein the first target resource is a resource in the first cell or the source BWP.

Aspects of the present disclosure provide apparatus, methods, processing systems, and computer readable mediums for enabling L1 (physical layer) and L2 (medium access control (MAC) layer) inter-cell mobility based on UE signaling. An example method generally includes sending, to a network entity, a request to enable or disable one or more inter-cell mobility procedures based on at least one of physical layer or medium access control (MAC) layer signaling, and performing inter-cell mobility procedures in accordance with at least one of the request or a response to the request.
