Switching communication modes (direct and indirect UE access)
Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for switching a communication mode of a remote UE. One apparatus includes a processor (405) and a radio transceiver (425) that communicates with a relay unit (120). Here, the processor (405) decides to handover the relay unit (120) and determines a group of one or more remote units (105) associated with the relay unit (120), wherein the relay unit (120) is a relay for the group. The processor (405) selects a target base unit (110) of a mobile communication network based on the relay unit (120) and the group of one or more remote units (105) and determines a first subgroup of remote units (105) from among the group of one or more remote units (105) that cannot be supported by the target base unit (110). The processor (405) also sends, to a remote unit (105) in the first subgroup of remote units (105), a command to resume communication with the mobile communication network without using the relay unit (120).
Methods and apparatuses for configuring a wireless device to evaluate handover events
A method in a primary network node for handling a handover of a wireless device from a primary cell serviced by the primary network node to a neighbor cell serviced by a neighbor network node. The method comprises sending a configuration message to the wireless device, comprising instructions to evaluate in parallel a first handover event and a second handover event. The first event is based on signal quality measurements from both cells. The second event is based on signal strength measurements from both cells. To evaluate comprises determining if an entering condition for each of the events is satisfied. The method further comprises sending a handover command to the wireless device when one of: the entering condition for the first handover event is satisfied over a first time period, and the entering condition for the second handover event is satisfied over a second time period.
Method and apparatus for transmitting user equipment group information in wireless communication system
A method and apparatus for transmitting user equipment (UE) group information in a wireless communication system is provided. A source eNodeB (eNB) of a handover procedure transmits a handover request message including UE group information to a target eNB of the handover procedure when the source eNB hands over a UE to the target eNB. The UE group information is included in a UE history information IE (information element) of the handover request message.
Controlling channel usage in a wireless network
Methods, apparatuses, and embodiments related to a technique for controlling channel usage in a wireless network in a multi-band wireless networking system. In a wireless network with multiple wireless networking devices and one or more client devices, communications between the wireless networking devices occurs via a backhaul channel, and communication between the client(s) and the wireless networking devices occurs via a fronthaul channel. Based on interference characteristics of the wireless channels, a device determines a channel usage plan, and communicates the plan via the backhaul channel to the wireless networking devices of the wireless network.

BASE STATION, TERMINAL, AND COMMUNICATION CONTROL METHOD
Provided is a base station that enables data communications in a small cell to continue even if a handover between macro cells occurs. In the base station (100), a handover determination unit (105) determines whether the handover of a control plane from the base station (100) to another macro cell is necessary for a terminal. If it is determined that the handover is necessary, a radio resource control unit (109) and a slave radio resource control unit (110) continue the control of a user plane communication process when the terminal is located inside a small cell, and the radio resource control unit (109) and slave radio resource control unit (110) stop the control of the user plane communication process and perform a process of handover to the other macro cell when the terminal is located outside the small cell.
Failover and management of multi-vendor network slices
A network slice controller obtains health information of an active network slice provided by a first vendor and health information of a set of backup network slices provided by a second vendor. The network slice controller evaluates, using a set of policies corresponding to management of the active network slice, the health information of the active network slice to determine whether the active network slice has failed. As a result of the failure of the active network slice, the network slice controller identifies one or more backup network slices of the set of backup network slices to serve as new active network slices. The network slice controller activates these one or more backup network slices to serve as the new active network slices for the network.
TERMINAL APPARATUS, BASE STATION APPARATUS, COMMUNICATION METHOD, AND INTEGRATED CIRCUIT
A terminal apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive a radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message from a base station apparatus, and a controller configured to configure a parameter based on the parameter included in the RRC reconfiguration message. The parameter includes at least identity information of a target cell and a configuration of a subcarrier spacing, and the configuration of the subcarrier spacing is configured for each of the target cells.

MACHINE-TO-MACHINE (M2M) TERMINAL, BASE STATION, METHOD, AND COMPUTER READABLE MEDIUM
A Machine-to-machine (M2M) terminal (11) comprises a radio communication unit (111) and a controller (112). The radio communication unit (111) is configured to communicate with a base station (13). The controller (112) is configured to change at least one of a cell selection operation, a cell reselection operation, and a handover operation according to whether a specific coverage enhancement processing is required or according to whether the specific coverage enhancement processing is supported by at least one of a cell (13) in which the M2M terminal (11) camps on and a neighbouring cell (14) of the cell (13) which the M2M terminal (11) camps on. It is thus possible to provide an improved technique for allowing the M2M terminal that is supporting a special coverage enhancement processing for M2M terminals to camp on an appropriate cell.
