Cell handover method, apparatus, and system

A cell handover method, apparatus, and system, where the cell handover method includes receiving, by a mobile edge computing (MEC) server, status information of a mobile terminal from a source cell, where the status information includes location information and speed information, determining, by the MEC server, a target cell based on the status information, where the MEC server serves the target cell, the target cell is neighboring to the source cell, and coverage of the target cell partially overlaps coverage of the source cell, and sending, by the MEC server, an identifier of the target cell to the mobile terminal using the source cell. According to the cell handover method, apparatus, and system provided in this application, cell handover is controlled using the MEC server to improve efficiency of the cell handover.

Reroute network traffic from millimeter-wave link to WLAN transmission

In some examples, a computing device may comprise a processing resource and a memory resource storing machine-readable instructions to cause the processing resource to proactively identify a line-of-sight (LOS) blockage of a network signal transmitted on a millimeter-wave link, and reroute network traffic from the millimeter-wave link to a wireless local area network (WLAN) transmission channel in response to identifying the LOS blockage of the network signal.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving network information for a group of video sessions. Embodiments include calculating an overall video traffic metric for the group of video sessions for each cell based on the network information and include determining a first overall video traffic metric of a first cell is above a first predetermined threshold and a second overall video traffic metric of a second cell is below the first predetermined threshold. Also, embodiments include generating a graphical map that indicates the overall video traffic metric for each cell in the cellular network and sending the graphical map to a mobile device in the first cell showing first overall video traffic metric and the second overall video traffic metric relative to the first predetermined threshold. Other embodiments are disclosed.

There is provided a communication control apparatus including a radio communication unit that provides a second radio communication service within a cell in which a first base station provides a first radio communication service, and a control unit that, when an operation mode of the radio communication unit is made to transition from a first mode to a second mode in which power is less consumed than in the first mode, switches the operation mode to the second mode after stepwisely reducing transmission power of a reference signal to be transmitted from the radio communication unit.

Method and device in UE and base station used for power adjustment

The present disclosure discloses a method and a device used for power adjustment in a User Equipment (UE) and a base station. The UE receives L reference signal groups transmitted by L antenna port sets respectively; receives R first signaling(s) for determining R first offset(s); and then transmits a first radio signal for determining K difference value(s) corresponding to K first reference power value(s) respectively, each of which is linearly correlated to a sum of the R first offset(s). Measurement(s) on K reference signal group(s) is (are) respectively used for determining K first reference power value(s). A transmitting power of the first radio signal is a first power associated with a first reference signal group, which is one of the K reference signal group(s). All of the L antenna port sets are used for one same serving cell or carrier. The disclosure helps improve power control performance and reduce overhead.

Directing client devices between co-located macro and micro wireless cells

Embodiments herein describe using a dual assess point (AP) to establish two access points that both are established by two individual radios (e.g., two 5 GHz radios). Generally, APs experience highly degraded performance when two co-located radios operate within the same band. In one embodiment, AP devices can deploy same band radios using a macro-micro cell approach. Thus, the AP may intelligently hand off client devices between the micro and macro cell in a way that optimizes the system for overall throughput and low packet latency while creating minimal oscillation of clients between cells. The embodiments in this disclosure disclose techniques that direct clients in a manner that optimizes these factors.

The method includes generating mobility history information upon entering an evolved universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) radio access network (E-UTRAN) from another radio access technology (RAT), the mobility history information including information on a time duration for which the terminal stayed outside of the E-UTRAN; receiving, from a base station, a request for the mobility history information; and transmitting the mobility history information to the base station, in response to the request.

Method of managing a cellular network and system thereof

There are provided a method and system of controlling traffic in a cellular network comprising at least one site characterized by a plurality of cells sharing a common antenna and operating in different frequencies. The method comprises processing performance-related data and network topology-related to obtain, for each cell of the plurality of cells, a performance score, thus giving rise to a set of frequency-dependent scores associated with the shared antenna; and enabling provisioning of the shared antenna in accordance with the set of frequency-dependent scores associated with the shared antenna. When no leading frequency is configured for the shared antenna, the provisioning is enabled merely when each score in the set of frequency-dependent scores meets respective adjustment criteria; and when a frequency among the different frequencies is configured as a leading frequency, the provisioning is enabled merely when a score corresponding to the leading frequency meets an adjustment criterion for the leading frequency.
