A method includes determining whether a packet switched (PS) signaling connection is released, the PS signaling connection being associated with a first network corresponding to a first radio access technology (RAT), controlling a switching timing to a second network corresponding to a second RAT according to a type of the PS signaling connection, and transmitting a request for switching to the second network. A terminal includes a controller to determine whether a packet switched (PS) signaling connection is released, the PS signaling connection being associated with a first network corresponding to a first radio access technology (RAT), and to control a switching timing to a second network corresponding to a second RAT according to a type of the PS signaling connection, and a transmitter to transmit a request for switching to the second network.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CELL RESELECTION

Described herein are techniques for performing cell reselection in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The method includes receiving a radio network terminal identifier (RNTI) from a first cell, transitioning from a connected state, performing cell reselection and to select a second cell different than the first cell, initiating resumption of communication by transmitting the RNTI to the second cell and resuming communications based on the transmitted RNTI.

Failure handling method, packet data network, mobility management entity, and network system

Embodiments of the present invention provide a failure handling method, a packet data network, a mobility management entity, and a network system. The failure handling method includes: receiving, by a packet data network gateway P-GW, downlink data after detecting that a failure occurs in an associated first S-GW; and sending, by the P-GW, a notification message to a mobility management entity MME by using a second S-GW, where the notification message includes an identifier of the P-GW and an identifier of a user, so that when determining that the identifier of the P-GW included in the notification message is different from a P-GW identifier corresponding to a context identifier of the user, the MME refuses to initiate a procedure for recovering from the failure in the first S-GW. The embodiments of the present invention can prevent a failure recovery procedure from being executed multiple times, and lighten signaling load.

COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, BASE STATION AND COMMUNICATION TERMINAL

A communication system includes a base station configuring an energy saving cell (ES cell) and a base station configuring a compensation cell (Comp cell). The ES cell is switchable between a switch-on state and a switch-off state. The Comp cell compensates for the coverage of the ES cell when the ES cell is in the switch-off state. Before the Comp cell starts compensating for the coverage, for example, before the ES cell decides to switch itself off in Step ST2101, in Step ST2201 for example, the base station configuring the ES cell notifies the UE being connected with the ES cell of the information about a Comp cell, for example, a Comp cell list.
