Dynamic RAT determination for common resource blocks
A system and method of managing network resources is provided, in which a noise threshold for an access node is set, the access node including a first plurality of resource blocks corresponding to communication in a first communication mode and a second plurality of resource blocks corresponding to communication in either of the first communication mode or a second communication mode; a noise parameter for the second plurality of resource blocks is monitored; the noise parameter is compared to the noise threshold; and in response to a determination that the noise parameter exceeds the noise threshold, access to the second plurality of resource blocks for communication in the first communication mode is restricted.

Performing handover between short-range and cellular wireless networks
Techniques are disclosed relating to a mobile device that initiates handovers from short-range networks to long-range networks. In various embodiments, a mobile device includes one or more radios that communicate using a plurality of radio access technologies (RATs) including a cellular RAT and a short-range RAT. In such an embodiment, the mobile device stores an indication that the cellular RAT is a preferred RAT for a communication session. The mobile may establish the communication session using the preferred RAT, and in response to determining that a quality of the preferred RAT fails to satisfy a set of quality criteria, may request that the communication session use the short-range RAT. In some embodiments, the mobile device analyzes average packet error rate for the communication session and in response to the average packet error rate satisfying a threshold, requests that the communication session use the cellular RAT.

Co-channel co-existence in a wireless communications system
There are provided mechanisms for sharing channels in a wireless communications system among wireless devices that use a plurality of different access technologies. First and second wireless devices are operable to share a channel in the wireless communication system with each other. The first wireless device is operable to provide an indication to the second wireless device that the first wireless device is using a first access technology to access the channel. The second wireless device is operable to receive the indication and determine, based on the indication, that the first wireless device is using a first access technology to access the channel. Accordingly, the second wireless device can determine, based on compatibility of its access technology with that of the first wireless device, whether to refrain from using the channel or to share the channel.
Access control related method, base station, and user equipment
The present disclosure provides an access control method performed at user equipment (UE), comprising: receiving, from a base station, multiple pieces of access control information corresponding to multiple network types; using the received multiple pieces of access control information to respectively perform an access control check for the multiple network types of networks; starting an access barring timer according to an access control check result; and if the access barring timer times out, informing an upper layer of the UE that barring of access is removed. The present disclosure also provides an access control configuration method for UE performed at a base station, corresponding UE, and a corresponding base station.
COMMUNICATIONS DEVICE, INFRASTRUCTURE EQUIPMENT, CORE NETWORK ELEMENT AND METHODS FOR MINIMIZATION OF DRIVE TESTS, MDT, REPORT
A method of operating a communications device in a wireless communications network, the method comprising: measuring received signals transmitted in a first cell at a first location to generate a measurement result, wherein the communications device is not permitted to access the first cell, and transmitting in a second cell a minimization of drive tests (MDT) report based on the measurement result, the report comprising an indication of the first location.
