UPF selection method and device
A UPF element selection method includes: judging, by a SMF element, whether a target RAN node is connected to a current UPF element; if not, determining that a user terminal is moved out of a current UPF service area; sending, by the SMF element, a resource acquisition request to a NRF, a resource response message including a UPF list, wherein the UPF list includes a UPF address, and a service application ID list supported by the UPF element; receiving, by the SMF element, the resource response message fed back by the NRF; judging, by the SMF element, whether a current service application ID carried by the user terminal belongs to the service application ID list supported by the UPF element; and if yes, accessing the user terminal to a target UPF element. A UPF element selection device using the UPF element selection method is provided.
MME interface for EN-DC node selection
A computer device may include a memory storing instructions and processor configured to execute the instructions to receive a request for a connection to a Packet Data Network gateway (PGW) from a User Equipment (UE) device; obtain subscription type information for the UE device; and determine that the UE device is associated with a Fifth Generation (5G) subscription based on the obtained subscription type information. The processor may be further configured to obtain a list of available PGWs from a 5G Network Repository Function (NRF), in response to determining that the UE device is associated with the 5G subscription; select a PGW from the obtained list of available PGWs based on a selection rule; and send a create session request for the UE device to the selected PGW.
Apparatuses and methods for facilitating network connectivity via an access point name
Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, obtaining a first access point name (APN) value from a storage device, transmitting a first message that includes the first APN value to a mobility management entity (MME), receiving a second message subsequent to the transmitting of the first message, wherein the second message includes a second APN value that is different from the first APN value, and causing the second APN value to be stored in the storage device. Other embodiments are disclosed.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MULTI-ACCESS EDGE COMPUTING (MEC) SELECTION AND LOAD BALANCING
A device, method, and system provide for collecting service parameters associated with application sessions associated with a plurality of MEC clusters; obtaining capability information associated with each of the plurality of MEC clusters; generating service profiles for a set of transport networks based on the service parameters and the capability information, wherein each transport network includes at least one of the plurality of MEC clusters; receiving, from a user equipment (UE) device, a request for a MEC service having a minimum service requirement; and selecting, based on the service profiles, a MEC cluster from the plurality of MEC clusters to provide the MEC service, wherein the selected MEC cluster is included in a first transport network that meets the minimum service requirement.
Network slice selection method and apparatus
This application discloses a network slice selection method and apparatus, to resolve a prior-art problem of large transmission load on a network side. The method performed by a core network device includes: receiving a first request message sent by a terminal device, where the first request message is used to request to allocate, to the terminal device, a network slice that provides a business service; sending a query message to a SSF, where the query message carries user information of the terminal device, and is used to query for a network slice that is capable of providing a business service for the terminal device; and after receiving slice information of the network slice that is capable of providing the business service required by the terminal device and that is determined based on the user information, forwarding the first request message to the network slice corresponding to the slice information.
Access Point Name Configuration Method and Apparatus, and Readable Storage Medium
Provided are an Access Point Name (APN) configuration method and apparatus, and a readable storage medium. The APN configuration method includes: determining, by a terminal, an APN category of a candidate APN, wherein the APN category includes an APN used in a 5G network or an APN used in a non-5G network; determining, by the terminal, a network mode of the terminal according to a configuration parameter of the terminal, wherein the network mode includes a network mode supporting the 5G network or a network mode not supporting the 5G network; and determining, by the terminal, according to whether the APN category matches the network mode, whether to execute network access based on the candidate APN.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ACCESS TO NETWORK IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND DEVICE FOR SAME
Disclosed as a method of controlling access to a network in a wireless communication system and an apparatus therefor. Specifically, a method of performing access to a network by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system may include receiving first information on whether a specific access identity is valid in a specific public land mobile network (PLMN) from the network, when the UE selects a PLMN and attempts access, determining whether the specific access identity is valid in the PLMN selected by the UE based on the first information, selecting an access identity based on the determination, and performing an access control procedure based on the selected access identity.
SELECTING LOCAL GATEWAYS FOR VoWiFi AND ViWiFi
Selecting local gateways for VoWiFi and/or ViWiFi calls (voice traffic sessions) for a user equipment (UE) includes: receiving, by a routing node (evolved packet data gateway (ePDG)), a request to initiate the voice traffic session for the UE from a wireless node (WiFi router) communicatively coupled with the UE, the wireless node outside a cellular network; based on at least an internet protocol (IP) address of the wireless node or the UE, determining a geographical location of the UE; based on at least the geographical location of the UE, determining a tracking area code; based on at least the tracking area code, determining an IP address of a network gateway (user plane function (UPF) or packet data gateway (PGW) user plane function (PGW-U), and session management function (SMF) node or PGW control plane function (PGW-C)) proximate to the UE; and establishing the voice traffic session using the network gateway.
Chain broadcasting in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications
The subject matter described herein is directed towards a technology that increases the reliability of transmitting information, and extends the coverage of a vehicle-to-everything (V2X) network by propagating received information in a multiple-stage chain communication in a wireless communication system. A transmitting device transmits a communication message with repetition data indicating number of times the communication message is to be retransmitted in the wireless communication system. A receiving device determines from the repetition data that the communication message is intended to be retransmitted, modifies (e.g., decrements) the repetition data, and retransmits the communication message in association with the modified repetition data.
Cell selection and handover methods
Embodiments described herein relate to a method of selecting a cell for communication over a network, the method comprising: determining a round trip delay (RTD) measurement from a device to each of a plurality of base stations, each of the plurality of base stations being in a respective one of a plurality of cells; ranking the plurality of cells based at least in part on the RTD measurements; selecting the highest-ranked cell; and initiating attachment to the selected cell.
