Selection of a network slice instantiation for transmitting uplink packets
11716631 · 2023-08-01 · ·

A method for transmitting in a communication network uplink data from an application module in a user terminal. The method includes: determining, by said user terminal, if a correspondence exists between an application module providing at least one uplink packet and at least one rule designating a network slice instantiation to be used for transmitting uplink packets in the communication network; and in response to a determination by said user terminal that the application module providing at least one uplink packet corresponds to a rule designating a network slice instantiation to be used for transmitting the uplink packet in the communication network, transmitting said at least one uplink packet from the user terminal to an entity for access to a user plane of the designated network slice instantiation.

Protocol improvement for redirection to another system in mobile communications

Examples pertaining to protocol improvement for redirection to another system in mobile communications are described. An apparatus in a 5.sup.th Generation System (5GS) receives, from a mobile network, a reject cause indicating that redirection to an Evolved Packet System (EPS) is required. Responsive to receiving the reject cause while no suitable cell of the first mobile network connected to an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) is found or while no cell of the first mobile network connected to an EPC can be selected, the apparatus enters a predefined 5.sup.th Generation Mobility Management (5GMM) state and starts a timer.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, attaching a mobile device to an initial bearer at a base station of a mobility network, monitoring a performance parameter for communication by the mobile device on the initial bearer, requesting, by the mobile device, information about other bearers at the base station of the mobility network, wherein the requesting is responsive to the performance parameter failing to exceed a predetermined performance threshold, receiving at the mobile device, network information about other bearers at the base station of the mobility network, the network information including current capacity information for the other bearers, selecting, by the mobile device, a selected alternative bearer based on the information about other bearers, and communicating, to the mobility network, a user equipment (UE) capabilities message identifying the selected alternative bearer and omitting the initial bearer to change bearers to obtain better communication performance at the mobile device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

A privacy information transmission method, an apparatus, a computer device and a computer-readable medium are disclosed. The method may include: generating authentication information in response to receiving of an identity registration request message sent by a terminal device via a base station, and encrypting the authentication information with a first private key to generate encrypted authentication information; sending a first identity identification request message carrying the encrypted authentication information to the terminal device; and receiving an identity identification response message returned by the terminal device, and acquiring privacy information from the identity identification response message.

INTERWORKING FUNCTION SELECTION ACCOUNTING FOR SUPPORTED NETWORK SLICES
20230239779 · 2023-07-27 ·

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A public land mobile network (PLMN) may indicate to a user equipment (UE) which network slices are supported by available non-Third Generation Partnership Program (3GPP) interworking functions (N3IWF). The PLMN may provide, to the UE, non-3GPP access node (N3AN) selection information that indicates a set of N3IWFs and a set of supported network slices. The network slices may be indicated via Network Slice Simultaneous Registration Group (NSSRGs) associated with each N3IWF. If a UE is not configured to support NSSRGs, the PLMN may indicate network slices that may be used concurrently and may indicate one or more N3IWFs that support the indicated network slices. The UE may select an N3IWF based on one or more selected network slices. The UE may register with the N3IWF and connect to the N3AN based on an internet protocol address associated with the N3IWF.

METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ACCESS OF TERMINAL TO PRIVATE NETWORK
20230021988 · 2023-01-26 ·

The present disclosure relates to a communication technique that combines IoT technology with a 5th generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate than a 4th generation (4G) communication system such as long term evolution (LTE), and to a system therefor. The present disclosure may be applied to intelligent services (for example, smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, smart cars or connected cars, healthcare, digital education, retail businesses, security and safety-related services, etc.) on the basis of 5G communication technology and IoT-related technology. According to various embodiments of the present invention, a method and apparatus for controlling an access of a terminal in a wireless communication system that provides a private network slice may be provided.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR USER DEVICE SELECTION BETWEEN A PLURALITY OF SERVICE PROVIDER NETWORKS

A control device receives information, e.g., network status information and network loading information, from a plurality of service provider networks and device capability information and status information, from a plurality of user equipment (UE) devices. UEs subscribe to multiple service provider networks. In some geographical regions, coverage is provided by more than one network. The control device generates and sends device profile to network mapping information to UEs on an individual UE basis, e.g., for geographic regions, e.g., 3D regions, where multiple networks are available. Device profile to network mapping information sometimes includes criteria, e.g. rules, parameter, limits, etc. An application on the UE uses the received device profile to network mapping information, along with position information, to select a network/profile to use at a given time. Altering the information provided to one or more UEs allows the control device to perform load balancing between networks.
