Beam selection for paging
Wireless communications for paging are described. A wireless device may use a subset of beams, among a plurality of beams, to communicate with a base station during a connected state. After a connection release, at least one beam of the subset of beams may be used for paging associated with the wireless device.
Override of default base station discontinuous reception cycle for individual user equipment
Aspects of the disclosure relate to a UE transmitting a request for a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle of a first duration; receiving an indication that a DRX cycle having a second duration has been assigned to the UE by a core network component; receiving a system information block (SIB) from a base station, the SIB comprising: a default paging cycle, and an indication that override of the default is supported; entering an inactive state in which a transceiver of the UE is in a low power state; and causing, while the UE is in the inactive state, the transceiver to periodically enter a higher power state to monitor its paging channel at a periodicity based on the second duration. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
TRANSMIT POWER OF PAGING EARLY INDICATION (PEI)
This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support mechanisms for determining a transmit power of a paging early indication (PEI) transmission. In particular, a user equipment (UE) receives a PEI from a base station indicating whether the UE is being paged during a paging occasion. The UE determines a transmit power of the PEI transmission. In some aspects, the UE determines the transmit power of the PEI transmission based on a configuration of the PEI provided to the UE, which may include an indication of the PEI transmission power as an absolute power value and/or a power offset value with respect to another transmission, signal, or channel. In some aspects, the transmit power of the PEI transmission is based on whether the PEI transmission is a beamformed transmission.

Method for accessing a service unavailable through a network cell
In an access device associated with a first network cell, a method for enabling user equipment (UE) to obtain a service unavailable through the first network cell includes receiving a request for the UE to access the service, and identifying, in a message to the UE, a plurality of second network cells providing the service.

Paging for delay tolerant mobile terminals and applications
A user equipment (UE) includes a transceiver and a processor. The transceiver is configured to receive, from a network, a paging message including an indication for delayed paging. The indication for delayed paging indicates that the UE is allowed to delay a response to the paging message. The processor is configured to identify the indication for delayed paging in the paging message.
